Musk says Tesla Model Y with 7-seats coming in early Q4 - Link

San Francisco: Tesla which currently produces fully-electric Model Y with five seats is geared up to launch a seven-seater version later this year, Elon Musk has revealed.

In a tweet on Sunday, the Tesla CEO responded on a query about the seven-seater Model Y electric car: "Probably early Q4".

The compay would allow first deliveries around October or November.

It's still unclear what the production version of the Model Y with 7 seats will look like, but Tesla has certainly been looking at rear-facing seats recently, reports Electrek.

Earlier this month, Musk said that there is an urgent need to address production challenges of Model Y and it is top priority for the company.

"It is extremely important for us to ramp up Model Y production and minimize rectification needs. I want you to know that it really makes a difference to Tesla right now," Musk wrote in an email seen by Business Insider.

Musk earlier said he expects the Model Y to become the best-selling vehicle in Tesla's history.

Once you have returned your vehicle, the return process is final and may not be cancelled. At this time, we are not able to facilitate vehicle exchanges. If you decide to order another vehicle, you may not order the same trim for a period of 12 months but may order another vehicle in a different trim at any time. However, if you are found to have abused this policy or have acted in bad faith, you will be prohibited from purchasing any vehicle for a period of 12 months.

Volkswagen Group Chairman Herbert Diess, after leading Elon Musk to test his ID3, revealed that he tested a Tesla Model Y Y recently, and based on his statements about the all-electric crossover, it seems he was impressed by Tesla's latest creation.

Diess also praised the Model Y for being a vehicle built from scratch as an electric car - something the VW executive feels is missing from other veteran automakers that are also releasing EVs

Diess said there are still no plans for a co-operation or deal with Tesla, he and tesla's CEO are just testing the cars of their respective companies

Tesla Model Y has made its world debuted as a police patrol car after being commissioned by the Hastings-on-Hudson Police Department, Westchester County, New York. This is the first ever Model Y to be equipped as a police vehicle in the world.

The Model Y will serve as the police car assigned to the Detective Division of police. It has been outfitted with lights, sirens and radio to aid the police in its activities. The Long Range Midnight Silver Metallic Model Y on 19″ Gemini wheels was added to the County's fleet of patrol cars as it looks to use alternative fuel and green technology

Tesla has added a cheaper Standard Range model of the Model Y to its lineup with an EPA estimated 244 miles of range.



The rear-wheel-drive Model Y Standard Range starts at $43,190 and is available to order now.

A new seven-seat configuration is now available on the Standard Range and Long Range for $3000.

Tesla has announced UK pricing for the Model Y, with the entry-level Long Range starting at £54,990.

The Model Y Long Range has two electric motors and all-wheel drive. It has a WLTP range of 315 miles from its 75kWh (ish) battery, which can be charged at up to 250kW from a DC charger or at 11kW via its onboard AC charger.

The Model Y Long Range can go from 0-62mph in 5.0sec, and has a top speed of 133mph.

The Model Y Long Range deliveries set to commence in early 2022.
