Lincoln Motor Company has announced it is working with Rivian to develop an all-new electric vehicle featuring connected and intuitive technologies, based on Rivian’s skateboard platform.

“Working with Rivian marks a pivotal point for Lincoln as we move toward a future that includes fully electric vehicles,” said Joy Falotico, president, Lincoln Motor Company. “This vehicle will take Quiet Flight to a new place – zero emissions, effortless performance and connected and intuitive technology. It’s going to be stunning.”


The new zero-emissions vehicle is part of Ford’s recently agreed investment in Rivian and its previously announced investment of more than US$11.5bn into electrification, which includes the Mustang Mach-E and a fully electric version of the F-150 pickup.

“Our vehicle development partnership with Ford is an exciting opportunity to pair our technology with Lincoln’s vision for innovation and refinement. We are proud to collaborate on Lincoln’s first fully electric vehicle,” said Rivian CEO RJ Scaringe.

From the latest video Rivian released, it looks like they are not only considering the practical part of a pickup truck on rural roads, but also the offroading part to a greater extent. It was indeed a nice video to watch.

Some specs:

*Quad-motor powertrain with a torque vectoring system for the top model
*147 kW power capacity at the wheel, configurable power output from 300kW to 562kW
*Battery capacities ( Expected Range): 105 kWh (370km), 135 kWh(480km), and 180 kWh (640km)
*160kW fast DC charging and 11kW Type 2 AC charging
*Towing capacity 5,000 kg
*Predominantly focussed on US market (but we never know and India could use such vehicles)
*Price announced as ~69000USD, but after Tesla's cybertruck launch at a lower starting proce, Rivian said it might bring the prices down too.

R1T will be a game-changer in the Adventure EV segment. Even though we have Cybertruck & the F-150 Electric coming up, one that closer to the production and more public releases will add up the confidence in Rivian.

The overrated fanbase of TSLA has paved the way for consumers looking to buy a non-TSLA EV. The appreciation and support from giants like Ford and Amazon will boost confidence to the devs and the end-users.

EV startup Rivian has announced it will roll out 600 charging stations across the United States and Canada by the end of 2023 just for Rivian R1S and R1T owners.



The Adventure Network will feature about 3500 DC fast chargers spread across those 600 stations, compared to more than 16,000 chargers at 1000 North American Supercharger stations in Tesla's growing worldwide network.



Rivian is also installing more than 10,000 individual Level 2 chargers around the country that won't be tied to a Rivian network and can be used by any EV with the J1772 plug.

Rivian releases its New Vehicle Warranty for the R1T Truck and R1S SUV

Comprehensive: The cost of all parts and labor necessary for any defective materials are covered for 5 years or 60,000 miles, whichever comes first.

Battery Pack: Coverage includes all components inside the high-voltage battery and 70% or more of the battery capacity for 8 years or 175,000 miles, whichever comes first.

Drivetrain: Coverage includes the drivetrain and components for 8 years or 175,000 miles, whichever comes first.

Corrosion (Perforation): Body panels that are perforated by corrosion will be covered for 8 years with unlimited miles.

Those 'ovals things' house the headlights. The lightbar is for supplementary lighting.
