Honda has announced that its first all-electric SUV will be called the Prologue. The new mass-market electric SUV is expected to go on sale initially in North America, sometime in 2024.
The Honda Prologue is said to be the first of many volume BEV offerings from the Japanese brand. The Prologue is said to kick start Honda's transition to an EV-only brand in the American market. This is in line with the company's recent announcement of offering an
EV-only lineup globally by 2040.
While details of the upcoming Honda Prologue electric SUV are scarce, it is expected to feature a bunch of equipment and technology. The Prologue is said to use the Ultium batteries from General Motors, while also featuring a flexible global EV platform.
In addition to the prologue EV, Honda has confirmed an all-electric Acura SUV in 2024 as well. The new Acura electric SUV will also feature the Ultium battery packs from GM and the same EV platform as the Prologue.

Honda, you are always late to the party.
All cars in EV mode by 2040? That will be too late.
When everybody was churning out diesel engines in India, you kept selling petrol only models. When diesel sales started declining, you brought diesel engines.
And I am still hoping that you will bring something to counter likes of Seltos, Creta, Sonet and newly launched Kushaq. You will definitely bring it one day, that I believe, but when?
Honda is Honda, always late.
(remembering Dunlop's tagline?)

At this rate the car can be called "Epilogue".
Probably , Honda is waiting for others to test waters , get fingers burned and then hit the market with a properly engineered EV. It may also backfire as india has always been a First-in-market-best-in-market type of place for not only auto makers but also for other segments. Remember, Thumbs Up is still a recognized brand then Coca Cola.
About time. Back when I was in grad school, talking "core competency" was all the rage. One only need to use that term in a couple of sentences to sound knowledgeable. Our professor used to rip people apart for using the term in class. It used to be fun. He used to explain how Honda was a text-book example of the term. They have a "core competency" in making fantastic engines which allows them to make cars, motorcycles, boats, portable gensets etc. and be competitive in multiple markets. Just like Kodak sitting on digital photography invention, I suspect Honda had been avoiding electric motors - possibly fearing what it'd do to their IC engines... Here is hoping and wishing them well in the EV motor space!

Honda, as always, is late to the party. Forever electric crossovers, they have yet to offer direct-injection turbo-petrols in India, like the Indians, Koreans & Germans are doing in mass market cars. Us Indian customers suffer a double whammy on all things Honda. Internationally, Honda is 10 years behind everyone else when it comes to releasing new tech. Then, Honda India is a further 10 years behind.
Funny, Audi had come out with a concept car named Prologue back in 2015. I guess they never got around to patenting the name so now Honda has conveniently picked it up.

Those alloys look differently cool!! Design overall is very proportionate and near production. This may be a big hit if at all Honda brings it to India too. The Honda city of EVs. Aspirational, good looking, and perhaps reliable too ('perhaps' as Honda is late to the party)
Surprised!!!!
If Honda were to make EVs with the help of GM batteries, then where does the JV with SONY gone?
Were they not together enter the EV market with tech from SONY?
Still a lot of information to get in the open.
Honda confirms "Mid To Large" EV using dedicated platform coming in 2025.
Quote:
Honda confirms that the first vehicle riding on its dedicated EV platform is "a mid- to large-size" model. It goes on sale in 2025. The announcement comes as part of a major presentation from the automaker's president and executive vice president about the company's future. A focus on technology and electrification is the way forward.
Honda is developing a new vehicle operating system for the 2025 EV on the e:Architecture platform. The company doesn't offer any specifics about this tech. It's hiring twice as many people as originally planned for in-house software development, including working on this system, advanced driver assistance, and connected vehicle features. There will also be a new Global User Experience Officer position within the automaker.

In 2024, the Honda Prologue and Acura ZDX EVs will go on sale. They'll both ride on General Motors' Ultium platform. Both automakers will continue their partnership by launching a series of affordable electric vehicles starting in 2027.
Honda will turn Ohio into its EV production hub for North America. This will include re-tooling the Marysville Auto Plant, East Liberty Auto Plant, and Anna Engine Plant. Honda and LG Energy Solution will also build their joint venture battery plant in the state.
There's big EV news outside of North America, too. Japan will get the N-Van EV as a tiny commercial vehicle in the first half of 2024. Then, an EV based on the retro-styled N-One will arrive in 2025. Two small models – one of which will be an SUV – will go on sale in 2026.
