New all-electric compact Jeep SUV in the works; to be positioned below the Renegade

Jeep is reported to be developing an all-new compact SUV for the global markets. According to a media report, the all-new SUV will be positioned below the entry-level Renegade model and will come with a fully electric powertrain. The plan to introduce an all-electric compact Jeep SUV is in line with the brand's recently announced electrification plans.

While details are still scarce, the upcoming compact-SUV is expected to carry over Jeep's signature design, such as the seven-slat grille, short front and rear overhangs and trapezoidal wheel arches.

There is no official timeline announced as yet for the arrival of the entry-level electric Jeep SUV. Stellantis - the American brand's parent company, recently introduced four new EV platforms, with the 'STLA Small' architecture built for compact electric models.

The new Jeep electric SUV could use this platform. However, Stellantis had stated that the new platform won't arrive before 2026. Having said that, other brands under the Stellantis umbrella, already have electric offerings, underpinned by the 'e-CMP' platform.

It now remains to be seen, which platform Jeep will make use of for their upcoming compact SUV. Both platforms are said to accommodate battery sizes ranging from 37 kWh and higher. However, the upcoming STLA Small architecture does claim to offer 100 miles of additional range, compared to the e-CMP platform.
