GAC Aion, the new energy vehicle brand of GAC, showcased its super-fast charging technology in two versions, 3C and 6C, at its Technology Day event on July 27, claiming a charging speed comparable to refueling. The company's 3C high-rate fast charging technology enables vehicles to be charged from 0 to 80 percent in 16 minutes, with a charging time of 10 minutes for 30 percent to 80 percent charge. Its 6C high-rate fast charging is even faster, achieving a charging time of 8 minutes for 0-80 percent charge and 5 minutes for 30-80 percent charge.

Moreover, it only took 4 minutes to charge 35.1 kWh, which points to an average charging rate of 526.5 kW.

The first vehicle with this technology, the Aion V, will come in September this year in two versions - 3c & 6c. Both of these will have a range of 500 Km. The company will also set up more than 100 super fast charging points in 2021.

The batteries are graphene based for 6c version and silicon based for 3c version. The battery life is also quoted to be 1 million Km for the 6c version.

Chinese EV manufacturer GAC Aion officially debuted its long-awaited 480kW fast charger on Monday, which will be able to charge the company’s upcoming electric Aion V SUV from 30% to 80% in under five minutes

The company has officially revealed its new charger A480. The charger is at a lesser capacity than previously claimed of more than 500 KW but its still quite fast.

During the event, GAC Aion showed its Aion V SUV charging from 30% to 80% using a supercharger with a peak charging power of 480kW and charged with 35.1kWh of power and a maximum charge current of 560A.
