Oh yes I remember those as well. In a barn/shed they were parked.

Had a very interesting chat with the owner of the vehicles just now. He also writes for Evo and the photos of the tesla by overdrive were actually clicked by him. He is also based out of chd.

This place is a must stay in manali for car enthusiasts.

I spotted the same Model Y Dual Motor right under my house.

You might be a neighbour to some Tesla employee. These cars have been given to Tesla employees to test in routine conditions. The Model 3 is in Bangalore, which can be seen near BTM - JP nagar area. The Model Y could possibly be with another employee in Mumbai.

Tesla Model Y electric car spotted during road tests in India

Tesla is reportedly working on starting up its business in India. The American EV maker may start its operations in India with the roll-out of its slightly more affordable cars such as Model 3 or Model Y. Now the latter has been spotted gettings tested on the country roads.

For the record, this isn't exactly the first time a Tesla car has been spied getting tested in India as previously, a Tesla Model 3 electric sedan was also caught behind the spy lenses.

The latest spy image was posted on Tesla Club India's social media handle and was shot somewhere in Pune, Maharashtra.

The Model Y uses the same platform as the Tesl Model 3 and internationally it has been offerd in both 5- as well as 7-seater configurations. Apart from the platform, the car also shared several exterior bits with the Model 3 such as the overall front section and wide LED taillights.

The car is offered in the global markets in both Long Range AWD and Performance. Both the trims are offered with dual electric motors/ all-wheel drive (AWD) function. While the former Long Range has been rated to deliver a full charge range of up to 505 km, the latter ‘Performance’ gets slightly less 480 km of claimed full charge range.

As far as the company's India entry is concerned, Tesla is currently in talks with the government of India to seek tax cuts on fully imported electric vehicles.

This is the model 3 facelift. The model Y is different and mostly won’t be sold in India

It indeed is the facelifted model Y. This car has been seen testing around mumbai-pune in the last couple of months. Wonder when the launch is slated. It was supposed to be in this month but I guess the tariffs/ local assemble have not been sorted yet.
From all the news floating around, Model Y will be launched first followed by Model 3

Yes, this is the new Model Y.

As an ex-Tesla Model 3 Performance owner, I'm shuddering to think of the rattles it will develop over a period of time looking at the condition of the road.

Hope Tesla has some magic up their sleeve to prevent this from happening.

Tesla begins hiring in India for autopilot testing ahead of launch.

Tesla has initiated the hiring process for specialised drivers in New Delhi and Mumbai as part of its plans to bring its Autopilot technology to Indian roads. The American electric vehicle (EV) giant is recruiting candidates to join its vehicle data collection team in roles described as “prototype vehicle operators.”

These drivers will be tasked with operating engineering vehicles for long hours each day—typically between five to eight hours—while collecting audio and camera data. This effort aims to train and test Tesla’s Autopilot and Full Self-Driving (FSD) capabilities in real-world Indian driving conditions.

The responsibilities go beyond simply driving; they include managing data-recording equipment, analysing the quality of the collected data and offering insights to improve the process. Ideal candidates are expected to have a strong understanding of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) and Autonomous Driving Systems (ADS), as well as advanced driving skills and adaptability to fast-paced work environments.

This hiring push marks a significant step toward Tesla’s entry into the Indian market, indicating that the company is preparing its autonomous technologies to meet the unique demands of local traffic conditions.
