EVs are inherently expensive vehicles. And I don’t see the point of making EVs in India when our EV market is so minuscule. Even if Kia manages to manufacture locally, it will still cost upwards of 40L which is anyway not affordable for most.

That's my whole point, why introduce expensive EVs as CBUs/Imports rather than concentrating on the 15-30 lakh bracket where the Nexon and MG ZS reign supreme.
If they manage to sell at least 10 cars of the EV6 per month it will be a great feat for them

EV6 is their Halo product. It’s an award winning car and is a fantastic car for the people who can afford it. I don’t see the harm in them introducing it.

Affordable EVs are coming sir. Their C SUV coming in 2025. They are actually working to have localized EVs but they need to get the ball rolling by introducing what they have.

- Bookings open on 26th May.
- EV6 will arrive in India as a CBU
- Initially, only 100 units have been allocated to India to be sold in 2022.

EV vs ICE comparison - seriously? This is not an apple to apple comparison at all. These kind of drag races are always misleading and doesn't make sense at all.

To be fair they never said it was anything more than a drag race. I mean it's a $60-75k car giving you the performance to beat any of those $140k+ cars at a green light.

I did a signal to signal race with an E92 M3 with a aftermarket exhaust in a Polestar 2 and smoked him on 3 consecutive lights! It was thoroughly enjoyable! At the last light, he even gave me a !

Would he smoke me on a track? Potentially. Will I probably ever meet him on one? Probably not. EVs have the potential to give you real everyday pleasure!

This is the GT which isn't available even globally yet. I really hope we get this car in India eventually though albeit as a Halo product.

India will be getting the GT Line for now. It does 0-100 in about 4.7 seconds.

I politely refuse to accept your justification. What is the point you/they are trying to make here? KIA EV6 GT is better than a Ferrari/McLaren/AMG in a straight line while costing less than half?
1. How can a mass market brand like KIA be compared to a collectors/Ultra unique brand like McLaren/Ferrari?
2. In this case, why did not KIA race it with a Model S Plaid/Taycan/Nevera?

Whether it is track or drag race, there is absolutely no comparison between a EV and ICE for obvious reasons...

To be fair, nobody said one was better than the other. There are many JDM tuned cars that can smoke these super cars too. I’m not arguing with you, I’m just trying to understand your sentiment.

1. Nobody is comparing them. It’s just marketing fluff. Every brand decides how they want to market their product. Obviously they want it to look good. Watching it smoke a Ferrari or Lambo is just good marketing. I noted that they didn’t compare it to a 911 Turbo S but a Targa. Coz the 911 Turbo S can smoke any of those cars in a drag race. Maybe except the Mclaren.

2. Fair point! They should do that! At least the Plaid and Taycan. Coz I doubt it’s possible to get your hands On a Rimac! And they would most likely smoke it too.

But the last arguement remains a mystery to me. Why should we not compare EVs and ICE cars. They will be sharing the streets, they have the same purpose, they’re both types of cars. That’s like saying we shouldn’t compare diesel and petrol cars coz the diesels will always lose.
