Hyundai developing small electric car for India

According to media reports, Hyundai is developing a small electric car for the Indian market.

Tarun Garg, Director – Sales, Marketing and Service, Hyundai India, has stated that various departments are currently working on issues such as charging ecosystem, sales network, manufacturing and evaluating different assembly processes.

He did not reveal the exact time frame for the launch of the small EV, however, he did mention that the company will have to look at as much localisation as possible, to be able to bring it at the right price.

The new model is part of Hyundai's broader plan to introduce six all-electric models in India by 2028. The next big launch will be the Ioniq 5 electric crossover.

Re: Hyundai developing small electric car for India

The Koreans have cracked that Indians want features and kitna deti hai. They are not really cheap to maintain which many dont seem to realise but irrespective to all of that I hope this time they make their EV cars 5 stars crash safe also. Fingers crossed I shudder to even imagine what would happen if occupants were in a 2 star Hyundai Creta type EV car and the car broke into half ?

Re: Hyundai developing small electric car for India

Key statements by Mr. Tarun Garg as quoted in the article :
1. "In electric, we are trying the top-down approach"
2. "for mass market EVs to succeed there needs to be a widespread charging network and lower battery prices"

Small EV under consideration as part of their EV plan : Believable

Developing a small EV without no tentative timeframe : Not believable

But you never know..!
