Pardon me for the dusty car but finding empty places in Kathmandu is tough. Drove the MG 4 last week and pretty impressed! It looks nice and has a comfortable ride (unlike most sporty looking cars). The 4 sold in Nepal does missed out on a lot of features but if it comes to India, MG shall addres that. Pricing wise it is about 20% over the ZS EV and that ain't bad. A nice looking EV under 30 is where this could fit in

In the countries where this is available (EU, GB, AUS, NZ), MG4 costs substantially *less* than the ZS EV with the same battery capacity.

The variant that costs the same as the ZS EV has (62 vs 50 KWh) a much bigger battery.

This competes directly with the BYD Dolphin (BYD Dolphin EV name trademarked in India). Both of them are supposed to be one of the cheapest EVs in Australia and NZ. MG4 looks stunning in comparison to the BYD and also has a bigger footprint, a bigger battery (51 vs 44.5 KWh) and much better performance in their base trims for practically the same amount of money.

This car holds the potential to reshape the entire EV and by continuation, the rest of the car market, anywhere it is offered. I really hope they start selling it here. Tata Motors would really hope they don't do that for at least 2-3 years.

I really do hope that MG and BYD bring all these high quality, well finished, long range, stylish products in to India fast. CKD route or whatever it takes.

It is about time that our complacent, lethargic and quality-unconscious domestic manufacturers received a healthy dose of competition even if such competition comes from our often hostile neighbour.

Products have to be judged on their own merits and suitability for the users. It is not at all necessary to become jingoistic or to loudly exhibit faux-patriotism on our sleeves, when spending our hard earned money.

The MG4 indeed looks beautiful. It is in a way a new modern re-definition of those superb classic MG’s. Clearly the brand has moved strongly with the times and rather than holding on to the past glories alone and slowly dying out, it has made itself relevant to the new age consumers. And if the little MG4 comes in a wide array of bright colours along with the above mentioned positive attributes, along with ‘fair pricing’, then yes, I can certainly consider buying one.

Absolutely agree with you. We need these quality EVs here in India. Just tired of seeing QC issues and ICE converted EVs. We lack competition in born EVs. Hope BYD brings in Atto 3 via CKD soon.

Any news on when the MG4 will launch in India , its on my radar. This will satisfy my Mid life crisis of wanting a car as powerful as 5 series and a future ready EV in one buy
