In my mind I'm thinking of the alternate EVs that could have been bought with that money.

That's probably an EV6 plus a Honda City eHEV and then some spare change. But then again, who am I to judge people for how they spend their money.

The article headline says that the winning bid was 1.75cr, instead of 1.0075cr. Request the mods to correct and update

OMG, this is insane. I would have bought two IONIQ 5 for this and still had some money left.

I am baffled with what people have in their minds. When the guy plans to sell the car, it would be the worst depreciated car in Indian history of cars. Not sure he has given any thought on this.

Recently on the 20th of Janurary, the company announced that this exclusive XUV400 will be auctioned off and the proceeds from the highest bid will be donated to an NGO
But hey, atleast the proceeds go towards charity. According to this article.

I guess he just wanted to do some charity and to be known for it. The car would be more like a souvenir to him.

Re: Mahindra XUV400 One-of-one edition sells for Rs. 1 Crore & 75 Thousand

I think the plan might be to sell it to collectors a few decades later as "the one of a kind edition of Mahindra's first electric vehicle in India" for a steep price but who knows.

This is very noble. I am given to understand that this is for charity.

They do this at Barrett Jackson auctions quite regularly. I remember reading that they recently did a GT500 heritage edition which went for over a million US dollars. I am glad such initiatives are being taken here as well.

Mahindra is matching the amount as well, so all in all not a bad deed.

"The proceeds from the auctions will either go towards the winners of the Mahindra Rise Sustainability Champion Awards or to a charity of the winner’s choice. Mahindra will also provide an equivalent amount of money from its side to whichever organisation the winner chooses to donate."

I don't think that the car has been bought with the thought of selling at all, Mr Reddy could be a part of the company that is growing in EV sector or he could be a part of Mahindra's supplier chain. So selling the vehicle is not at all in question.
