Ford's CEO, Jim Farley, recently went on a road trip with the company's all-electric F-150 Lightning. However, according to reports, his journey was marred with charging issues, which Farley stated was a "reality check" in a recent candid video.

Jim Farley undertook a road trip from USA's Silicon Valley to Las Vegas in a Ford F-150 Lightning, in a bid to experience firsthand and help iron out a few wrinkles especially related to charging EV batteries. Farley stated, "Long hauling in an electric truck is an act of pioneerism, not because it's hard or dangerous, but because it's a new way to experience America."



Talking about the charging issues he faced firsthand, Farley mentioned, "No surprise charging can be a challenge, but still learning a lot seeing firsthand the issues our customers face." The CEO even went to a popular charging stating in California to charge the F-150 Lightning. However, after 40 minutes only 40% of the battery was charged up.

The company though is said to be working on resolving the issue. The company recently partnered with Tesla, which will allow Ford customers to charge their EVs via Tesla's 12,000 supercharger network. This will be in addition to the public fast chargers set up by Ford themselves.

Ford's F-150 Series was the best-selling vehicle in America last year. The company states that it is crucial for them to remedy the charging experience if Ford wants to remain on top, especially from rivals like Tesla and Toyota.
