I would say I am of dual personality. That's why the other car in the garage is a Seltos 1.4 MT (which is driven very less now), but that is only when I am driving alone. Coming to the range part, I got about 270 with 80% charge used. Just FYI, I use the Normal mode during this time because the AC performance in Eco mode isn't great.

Re: Share your real-world Electric Car range here

My range figures at just under 10,000 KM with the Ioniq 5 :

100% AC, most convenience features on. Usable battery capacity is ~ 70 KWh as gleaned from the internet.

City range : 450 to 550 km, 6.5 to 8 Km/KWh

Highway range : limiter at 90 Kmph : ~ 425 Km, 6 Km/KWh
limiter at 120 Kmph : ~ 360 Km, 5 Km/ KWh

My longest trip interval : 360 Km (started at 100%, ended at 22%, limiter at 90 Kmph with a few short bursts of acceleration upto 130 Kmph for overtaking manoeuvres)

Re: Share your real-world Electric Car range here

Car and Model: Hyundai Kona
Year of Manufacture: 2019
Kilometers Driven: 32000
ARAI / Manufacturer Claimed Range: 452 kms
Real-World Range: 360 - 420
City Usage (%): 70%
Highway Usage (%): 30%
Home/Office Slow Charging (%): 70%
Outside Fast Charging (%): 30%
Battery Capacity: 39.2 kwh

I got the car a year back, pre owned, previous owner had driven 13k kms in 4 years. I have already done 19k kms in less than a year.

I get around 420 Kms of range in the city. Since I live in Bangalore the heavy traffic at times has a big impact on the efficiency, but I always get above 8 km/kwh.

On the highway, I drive like I used to drive my ICE car, no compromise, always in sports mode. I get around 7-8 kms/kwh(It has dropped to less than 7 at times). The maximum range I have got on highway is 448 kms, this was hypermiling without Ac, doing 70-80 kmph.

Heavy use of the paddle shifters, I love the feature, I dont think I would get another ev without Paddle shifters, extremely useful. The way the regen varies between the drive modes is also very well setup. I rarely use my breaks, unless I see a speed breaker, rest of the time the regen does the business.
In fact these days I sometimes drive around without regen just to familiarize myself with the conventional break.
I have driven other evs as well, but find the Kona's regen to be very well calibrated. The more I drive the car the more I am impressed with what Hyundai managed back in 2019, how did they manage to make such a sorted Electric car. Would give anything to somehow get the 64kwh kona, I will buy it today, if they get it to India even with the outdated interiors.

I wonder how the Windsor and Curvv.EV 45 would perform on this test. It would be interesting if the Windsor, being a born EV like the Kona (with a similar battery size), were to do better than the Nexon LR / XUV4OO.

If that were to happen, it wouldn't be too far off from the Nexon.EV 45 or the Curvv.EV 45 in terms of Highway range.

That is a great figure, what is the speed at which the vehicle was driven?

Thats very close to the published range. Do you mind sharing the driving parameters like average speed, SoC, traffic condition etc?

Also, have you managed to take it on a Highway yet? How has been the range?

Thank you for your posts Rana. User ownership details on EQE is non-existent and you are the only owner I have the privilege of interacting with. Thank you so much, I so wish I could pick your brain and get to k ow about the ownership experience in detail.

That is one of the most realistic ranges for normal (Non EV typical hypermilling) driving I have seen here.

We own a Nexon EV Max. (60% highway with 40 % city driving)
With sports mode 80% of time - 220kms
Eco mode - 280kms - Best I have got (did not cross 90kmph)
Normal - 230-240kms. When I use sports mode I need to brake more which increases battery regen and thus the marginal difference.

Re: Share your real-world Electric Car range here

Car and Model: Tata Nexon EV Empowered plus 45
Year of Manufacture: 2024, October
Kilometers Driven: 5200
ARAI / Manufacturer Claimed Range: 489
Real-World Range: 320
City Usage (%): 30 %
Highway Usage (%): 70 %
Home Slow Charging (%): 100% ( 7.2 KW charger )
I do a 135 km round trip to my work and back, takes 38-40% charge for one round trip, I charge on alternate days, 22-24% will be remaining after 2 round trips totaling 270 kms, so realistic range of 300-320 is possible till it hits turtle mode.

Re: Share your real-world Electric Car range here

What is the authentic theory around recharging of EVs after prolonged driving, especially factoring the need to cool down the batteries? Isnt it time consuming and doesn't it go against the purpose of long distance travel? Are we still at a nascent stage when it comes to understanding battery thermodynamics?

Re: Share your real-world Electric Car range here

No need to worry about cooling, the BMS takes care of that part. The only question to be asked if you are person that wants to travel more than 500 km at 120 km/hr per day and how frequently you do those trips? If the answer are Yes and often then EVs are not for you.

If you trips are max 500 km per day then you can buy any ev with more than 40 kw battery. They can cover this distance with just 30-40 minutes break. Sometimes you will not get charging stations at expected kms in that case do multiple stops. Always top up till 80-85 percent.

Hey Ravie! Initially I had been driving carefully (since it was a new car) so I was getting ~17kWh/100km which is around 540 kms. But now since I am getting used to it, I have been getting around 19-20kWh/100km which is around 450-480kms.

Average speed is around 25km/hr and I drive from Gurgaon to Delhi everyday via MG Road. There is not much traffic except of 7-8 red lights.

As for battery, it has 90.6kWh usable battery. I have set it to charge only till max 80%. Then every time it drops to around 20%, I top it up back to 80%. My overall travel distance is around 35km everyday. I have a 22kW charger both at office and at home, so usually never have to worry about battery. (Although EQE only supports max up to 11kW)

Unfortunately, still haven’t had a chance to take it to highways or outside Gurgaon yet.

I agree, I couldn’t find a single person on this forum who has an EQE. Matter of fact I couldn’t spot any other EQE’s on road as well. That’s probably also because it’s a CBU unit, and pricing is quite high. But I got a demo car, so got a good deal on the price.

Do you own one as well?

I've been absolutely loving it so far. The interior is just stunning, and while the exterior might not be to everyone's taste, I personally find it quite decent enough.

Here are a few things that have really impressed me:
  1. The massive 56" hyperscreen: It's like having a giant tablet across your dashboard. It's incredibly impressive and makes the car feel truly futuristic.
  2. Ambient lighting: The customizable ambient lighting adds a touch of luxury and really elevates the driving experience, especially at night.
  3. Incredibly comfortable seats: The seats are seriously comfortable, with electronic adjustments for everything, including thigh and lumbar support. The massage function is a lifesaver after a long day. Plus it has cooled and heated seats.
  4. Spacious rear seats: Plenty of room for three adults in the back.
  5. Airmatic air suspension: This makes the ride incredibly smooth, even on rough roads. You can even raise the car for extra ground clearance when needed.
  6. Burmester sound system: This 17-speaker system is hands down the best car audio I've ever experienced.

There are a few minor drawbacks, though:
  • Tiny glove box: Seriously, it's barely big enough for the owner's manual!
  • No frunk: A bit disappointing for an EV, as I could really use the extra storage space.
  • Collision avoidance system needs work: It seems to be a bit too sensitive for Indian roads and brakes abruptly, which can actually be dangerous. I have to turn it off every time I start the car.
  • No dashcam: Surprising omission for a car in this price range.
  • Could be a bit taller: A little more ground clearance would be welcome for a SUV.
  • No spare tyre

Range has been excellent as quoted above. and I've got a good charging setup at home and at work. 22kW chargers both at home and in office but the car only supports 11kw. I am getting a 16A waterproof socket installed at both places and plan to use it only majority of the times, since most of the time that’s more than enough as the car is idle in the parking in the night for 12-14 hours. And it’s better for battery health as well. And anyways whenever I need a quick charge, there is the 11kw option for faster top-ups.

I got the extended warranty and as part of the deal the SA promised me to get all my tyres changed after 2 years for free under warranty

The performance is mind-blowing. With 408bhp and instant torque, it's seriously quick. In Sport mode, the acceleration is so strong you can feel the front of the car lift!

Overall, I'm incredibly happy with my EQE SUV. Posting some pictures below.
