Consumer Report: The best EVs of 2024 are mainly from Germany & South Korea According to a Consumer Reports study, of the 50 EVs tested this year, only 14 of them made the final cut when examined for performance, range, comfort and quality. However, the more interesting part is that most of the list consisted of German and South Korean EVs, with just one Tesla. Consumer Reports tests all vehicles the same way but includes a range test at 70 mph for EVs.
The best electric vehicle tested by the agency was the BMW iX, scoring 84/100. Second on the list were the BMW i4 and the Hyundai Ioniq 6, both with a score of 83/100. The Porsche Taycan was behind them, rated at 76/100. The Hyundai Ioniq 6 was crowned the highest-rated mainstream electric car, with the Kia Niro EV taking the second spot in that segment with a 71/100 score.
Other EVs on the list included the Kia EV6 - leader of the two-row electric SUV category; with a score of 77/100. It was followed by the Genesis GV60 at 75/100, the Lexus RZ, the Audi Q4 e-tron, and the Audi Q8 e-tron, with a rating of 74, 71, and 71, respectively.
