Isuzu has unveiled the D-Max EV pick-up truck at the 2025 Commercial Vehicle Show in the UK.

A prototype of the D-Max EV was first shown last year at the Bangkok Motor Show. The D-Max EV comes with a dual-motor setup. It gets a 66.9 kWh battery pack that develops 188 BHP 325 Nm of torque. Isuzu claims a 263 km (WLTP) range in a single charge. With an 11 kW AC charger, the pickup can charge from 0 to 100 percent in 10 hours. With a 50 kW DC fast charger, it can go from 20 to 80 percent charge in one hour. It gets multi-level regenerative braking and an Eco mode.

The D-Max EV gets a full-time 4WD system, featuring newly developed e-axles in the front and rear. This system provides linear acceleration typical of EVs while minimizing noise and vibration. In addition to permanent 4x4, the D-Max EV has a dedicated Rough Terrain Mode for "extreme off-road capability."

The D-Max EV features an all-new De-Dion rear suspension, replacing the traditional leaf spring setup, which delivers improved handling. With various other improvements within the zero-emissions model, drivers and passengers can enjoy up to a 10% reduction in cabin noise and vibration level under full acceleration.

Dimensions wise, the D-Max EV measures 5,280 mm in length, 1,810 mm in height and 1,870 mm in width. It has a wheelbase of 3,125 mm and weighs 2,350 kg. It has a maximum payload capacity of 1,010 kg and a maximum towing capacity of 3,500 kg. It has a ground clearance of 210 mm and 600 mm of water wading capacity. It has approach and departure angles of 30.5deg and 24.2deg.

In terms of features, the D-Max EV gets a touchscreen infotainment system, digital instrument cluster, dual-zone climate control, front and rear parking sensors and heated front seats.

The D-Max EV will be available in two premium trim levels, both in Extended Cab and Double Cab configurations. These trims are the electric equivalents of the diesel-powered D-Max DL40 and V-Cross models.

Production of the left-hand drive model for Europe has commenced, and it will be shipped to major European markets in the third quarter of 2025. Production of the D-MAX EV right-hand drive model is scheduled to begin at the end of this year, with sales expected to start in 2026 in the UK and will be rolled out to other countries and areas based on market needs.

How long will Isuzu milk this truck and its news? This will never launch. Also, the battery pack is a joke!

Isuzu has really nailed the gap in the market for a “woke” mall crawler and weekend idli/vada breakfast drive pickup. And not to forget the staged offroad tracks on the outskirts of most big cities where you can feel proud of your prized possession. In this case such events will also have DG set enabled charging stations so people can also go back home without range anxiety.

For the real world, I guess it’s best to go conventional or use public transport.

Are you kidding me? In 2025, rolling out an electric pickup with just 263 km of nominal range is borderline irresponsible. Let’s be honest: by the time you’re towing a trailer or hauling a bed full of gear, that “263 km” will likely evaporate to under 200 km—maybe closer to 150 km in real-world conditions. At that point, you’re stopping every 100 km or so just to recharge, which completely defeats the purpose of a work truck.

At least it has enough space in the back to carry a range extender ( DG set ) all the time.

That a heavy Chassis down there! Space management is going to be tuff which explains the limited battery size. With this range and body weight, I don't see this as a positive success in UK, Australia or for that matter, in India
