Hi Pradeep, one main reason people prefer pugs is because it is easy to train if trained by a proper trainer. The price for the pug you mentioned would be anywhere between 25 - 50k (or even more, thanks to a few rich people who can afford to buy anything under the sun)

Well, there are very few hotels that would accomodate dogs in India. If you plan to leave the dog behind, you can get in touch Cannels pet shop which is right next to don bosco school. But the place where they keep the dogs are absolutly inhuman! there are atleast a dozen dog in a place fit for just 2-3 dogs.

Well I have three Aquarium; Biggest Aquarium (24x20X18") has a pair of red tails, catfish & Orange Koi. Red tails have diff temperament but fortunetly have made friends with Koi. Catfishes are sleepy duds, always at the bottom of Aquarium. The Red ones run around like anything & Koi's mostly glide.
The smaller Aquarium 21x11x16 is placed right above our shore rack. Here its full of Guppies who multiply by dozens every month. Some die but others keep the cycle going. Not very difficult fishes to maintain.
The third aqaurium houses my most expensive fish "Silver Arowana". Water surface fish & needs LOTS of attention.
Not much fan of Gold fishes as they are quite 'dirty'. I mean they "ammoniate" the water very fast.

*Have made all the aqauriums myself & do the recycling too. Its a lovely process & can take better part of your day.

Hi, I have an aquarium too, not too big but a medium sized one. 3' * 3' I guess. I have bought 1000s of fishes in the last 1 and 1/2 years. All different kinds with different price range. I am not very sure about the names, I just pick up whichever I like.

Now I have lost interest because whatever fish I keep is alive for max 2 months. I have tried as many ways defined but none work. I had 2 fishes which stayed longest for 6 months and gave babies also, but these were too ferocious to kill all other.

Regarding the other set of babies you have, you can dump them in my aquarium if you want . In fact, I would plead. I am looking for them for such a long time but unable to find it anywhere. I know it is illegal but I don't care because I am not going to treat it badly. Pets in my home get their best of comfort and this is the reason I have never trained any pets I keep.

Hi All,
I have a 5month old lab. I am confused about the bath schedule. How offen we should bath the lab. When search the internet it says right from once in a day to once in a life time . So i am totally confused same with the wet doctors. Now now I am bathing him everyday. It is right? If i don't bath the lab.. he smells bad... please advice thanks in advance..

"wet" doctors can simply hug your lab for a bath :P Just Kiddin...
Well, we are all really confused by internet. In USA/CANADA/UK etc where most pet forums are located, the average temperatures are much lesser than india where we live near the equator. i wish forums were answered by africans
The best solution for india is bathe your pup once a week or once a fortnight. Always use normal shampoo and medicinal shampoo( if it is required) in alternate baths.

The routine we followed for baths:

Short hair: Twice a week.
Long hair: Once a week. Along with a good brush every alternate day.

We have our dogs in a hot and humid environment. Western India.

But ofcourse this would depend upon their activities. A trip to the beach, outdoors mainly then a bath was compulsory after coming back.

I dont think it is a good idea to bathe your lab everyday buddy. Dogs skin is different, they dont sweat like us, instead, they secrete oils which is good for their furr coat, makes them shiny and soft. Bathing them too often will only make their coat dry and more prone to ticks & insects.

Its better to bathe your lab once or twice a month depending on your convenience. For the smell, Apply powder and brush him once or twice a week, that will be very good and my tiger likes it when we brush him !

You get this "NOTIX" powder, which can help keep the ticks away as well and give him good smell that will last for a week or so. try it out

@ Ranjan: You try keeping one pair small size fish in that tank Or best is to buy ONE big fighter fish(No need of airpump). You can google for TIPS. The water babies are my DOGS.
Imagine you standing on your door, in your Tee, shorts & flipflops, greeting a sweet looking thing & two of them standing on your each side straining their necks out to catch a glimpse of the visitor. She could not help but burst out laughing. Thanks to them I made good friends with that sweet thing.

Except for specific breeds, I do not think there is any need to ever bath a dog, unless they have indulged in bathing or rolling in something disgusting. Brushing will help your dog keep their fur in good condition with their own tongue.

I agree 100%. Most of the dogs keep themselves clean, and when we keep dogs in apartments and inside our home they hardly become dirty. Most people think it's unhygienic but it's really not needed to give your dog a bath unless they are really dirty or stink.

One of my dog is very clean and we need not worry about his cleanliness. Everytime I see him, looks like he just took a bath himself and came out
Also, it's not an easy task to give my dogs a bath. takes me half a day to give both of them a nice bath, dry and brush. Too time consuming.

got my self a almost yr old one
if any one with experience with african greys here can pls help me with a few things
it looks nice and all but its been 2 days and its acting a little strange
it eats less anybody goes near its cage it makes a wired noises
and feels kinda uncomfortable

so can any one tell me how to make it comfortable

Man, I just dont support keeping birds in cages. Sorry, I really think thats unfair to the bird. And the only advice I can give you is to move to a house with a farm so that the parrot can fly around outside the cage.

As is mentioned in the thread, parrots are VERY intelligent and need LOTs of company, since they're usually in a flock. Also, they outlive humans....and do not necessarily become "emotionally mature" in the human sense as they grow older....so be prepared to have a tantrum throwing 3 year old kid for the next 50 years. I'm not trying to scare you off, but owning a live pet that lives for more than a couple of years (as opposed to many fish) is something that will require significant lifestyle changes.

I adopted 2 dogs from the street and now ALL our lifestyle choices revolve around the dogs.... like renting an independent house that was suitable just so the dogs would have some open space, or coming back early from office to feed and walk them, to planning holidays around them, to limiting the furniture in the house (in the living room, we have just one bean bag and one and a half, half-eaten sofas ), to deciding to avoid people coming home who INSIST that the dogs be tied.

I wouldn't have it any other way, of course, like all dog lovers here would aver.

Parrots must have company, either of other parrots or of humans.

In a thread on another forum recently, someone pointed to a site which warned that living with a parrot is like living with an incredibly demanding and noisy 2-yr-old child, except that the child gets better, the parrot gets worse!

I too had planned for some birds as my pets, did some research Found them CAG's(60k/pair) and Macaw's(1.5 lacs+) too costly.So now i am planning to wait for some time and build a aviary at our farm, to put some Parakeets/Budgerigars/Finches. Meanwhile also planning to get a Fish tank for my place, still researching on the freshwater fishes/Setup ideas.
