What a great capture! - I really envy you guys. And to think that these marvellous creatures are lurking around so near home. If nothing else this thread has taught me to keep my eyes & ears peeled and acquire some genuine proficiency with the camera.

Thanks !

The eye contact !

Awesome pics!

However, what is this texture I'm seeing on your pics... almost as if they have been printed on canvas? Eg. see bottom right of the pic in the 2nd quote above.

Used a canvas effect using GIMP after resizing. Just playing around.

Downy Woodpecker or Hairy Woodpecker !

I never thought I would spot this tiny woodpecker in this part of the world, that too a few kilometers from home in Kerala.

Correction
It must be the Brown-capped pygmy woodpecker.

Awe-inspiring - I've spent a good deal of time looking at this one. As with a lot of us living in non-urban areas, this is a sight which is not uncommon - an eagle/hawk in the act of catching the prey. But it takes a capture like this to bring home the drama of the moment!

And I always Look up to the sky
Pray before the dawn.. Sometimes they arrive
Sometimes they are gone...And They fly on...

Young tigress on a golden morning

P.S. I would have preferred a different vertical perspective, but had to settle for this since I was on a Canter, high up from the ground.

Thanks. It was pure luck spotting that bird of prey in such an act !
Similarly this Purple-rumped sunbird looked very hungry after one heavy shower !
