Hi Rudra, Please don't mind but IMHO somehow this one is not working as much as the previous one. Or probably the expectations gone too high after seeing the previous shot. |
I think I know the problem. This pic will be mind-blowing on Rudra's ultra-calibrated professional monitor, and also on print. But on our piddley office/home monitors, we can hardly make out the real stuff.
I have seen certain images on my monitor followed by Rudra's monitor, the difference is day and night.

There's nothing to mind here kaushik. This was for my test and I found it interesting. Hence that post.
Bad climate with haze and biting cold..

That might be reason, although my monitor is calibrated but not using a spyder so it may not show the details properly. But please let me explain why I liked the first shot, it was the composition where your eye will see the river at the bottom and it gradually leads you to the smoky mountains. The silhouettes of the trees are coming out nice and we can even see a house which kind of adds to the mystery. Almost a picture perfect shot. I in-fact kind of loved the mood it created.
But in the 2nd shot, I somehow felt that the tree in the foreground kind of blocking the view instead of leading the eye to the picture.
These are just from an ameteur's viewpoint and everyone is free to disagree ofcourse:). And I'm really sorry Rudra for sort of disecting your photographs.

Actually many people don't like uncalled criticism ( I myself don't mind getting criticized but even I tried to defend myself many a times:)) and I didn't know whether you'll like it or not and hence.. Now that it's ok I'm taking back my apologycheers: he he.

The photography was quite a challenge in this terrain. Since the frame contains bright sunlight striping the dark jungle, it really confuses the hell out of the light meter in the camera. |
HDR is the way to go in such cases if your camera supports exposure bracketing.

Amitoj, the camera doesn't have to support exposure bracketing. You can take back to back shots by changing exposure compensation. But, I was not carrying tripod and I am not a fan of HDRs.

Well, if camera doesnt support it, only then tripod becomes mandatory. Oly doesnt have EV bracketing?
