Help: Weird phenomena on my touchscreen!

I have a HTC Tatto that is more than a year old. Since the past 5 days, I am noticing a strange problem on my touchscreen. What you seen in the pictures below aren't scratches. Something is happening inside the screen and the thing is gradually getting bigger and bigger everyday.

On Day 1 it was a small thing but on the second day it looked like this.

Then Day 3

Day 4

Help: Weird phenomena on my touchscreen!-p1010603.jpg

Day 5

Does anyone have an idea what's wrong with the screen? The touch sensitivity is also not as good as before.

I see that you have a scratch guard. Can it be moisture under it? Try removing the same.

Re: Help: Weird phenomena on my touchscreen!

Yes the scratch guard is there. But I had removed it for some time and still the problem persisted.

Re: Help: Weird phenomena on my touchscreen!

remove the scratchguard and clean the screen?
to see if its below/under the screen?
if not, get a new scratch guard maybe?

look like moisture.
maybe you had some invisible indents on the adhesive.
mumbai, yes?
it has just started raining over there, hasnt it?
could be.

Had you dropped the phone by any chance? If its not the moisture then definitley some issue with the display. You need to get it checked at the dealer or the service centre.

Re: Help: Weird phenomena on my touchscreen!

Looks like moisture inside the LCD layers. Does it go off if you remove the battery? If yes, then it is an issue with the LCD screen itself.

Re: Help: Weird phenomena on my touchscreen!

if its inside the LCD, it could be physical damage to the screen. I have had my laptop screen get bad like this. Did you press something against the screen?

Re: Help: Weird phenomena on my touchscreen!

No it doesn't look like moisture cuz I have removed the scratch guard and cleaned the screen too. It's something under the screen. Haven't dropped the phone in the past few days but has fallen down couple of times before. The phone is not even in warranty period right now. Still I'll check with the dealer or any phone repair shop.

Re: Help: Weird phenomena on my touchscreen!

It may not be moisture between the scratch guard and the LCD screen. It may be moisture between the different layers of LCD itself. A LCD screen is normally made of 4 - 5 different layers all stuck together. But the way it seems to be spreading it may also be the the LCD layers are separating. This is highly unlikely but is possible.

Re: Help: Weird phenomena on my touchscreen!

It looks like adhesive from the pics posted. My guess is that the touchscreen layer is unbinding from lcd layer, but its just a guess.

edit: probably you could describe how the screen works when phone is switched on. Are colors visible? are they faded/off the scale? Is touchscreen working in the affected region? etc..

When the screen is ON, all colors are clearly visible.

Has to be moisture. It just started raining here over the past few days. Thats probably why its started spreading.

If you have Hair Dryer, use it carefully on low heat and attempt to dry it up.

If you are sure, screen is not acting up, it may be some external moisture only, Had it been LCD Leak, you would started having issues with display, as you say screen is fine, you can dry some of moisture using a hair dryer.

Edit: Just read your touchscreen is no longer sensitive, it can be the touch screen layer, which is loosing its hold from the screen and the moisture leak in-between the screen and touch panel is what you see,
please take it to HTC Service center before attempting the hair dryer solution.
Atleast they can give you a quote for free.

Re: Help: Weird phenomena on my touchscreen!

the LCD has two layers with a liquid between them....Moisture passed in between these layers and they have got saperated....

The touchscreen should stop respondin on this area now and then

There is no solution except replacing the screen that may cost you Rs 500-750 i guess outside and about Rs 1500-2000 with HTC Service centre. HTC considers it a physical damage and wont replace in warranty unless you give them a good fight and escalate it

Its the most common thing with any HTC mobile
