How does it matter whether it supports only Tata Photon+ ? If it is only used at home. I think, I read somewhere that Micromax works with other dongles as well. There is manual setting available for dongle.
I am using Airtel 3G Datacard and I am looking for a Tab that supports Airtel.
I tried Micromax and it doesn't support Airtel.
As you said, Rest specs are good in Micromax,
Karbonn too supports all Datacard and having the same specs as Micromax.

I just downloaded the MX Player from google play and confirmed that mkv format is working fine.

Seems like many things are possible by getting the right apps. The next goal is to root this device.

The power on sound is annoying and not possible to suppress. Finally got the wav file for this, but not able to rename due to not being a root.

Any help to root? Did a lot of google and now back to our friends.

Re: My first Android Device - Penta IS 701C Review

good to know its been rooted, saves the hassle of rooting it, you can confirm this by downloading the Root Checker

https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...ootcheck&hl=en

Have you tried to check the scores using An tu tu or quadrant benchmark

Thanks for pointing there.

I tried, but got error. It says no root permission available. :(

Also, downloaded the Antutu benchmark. It has problem in completing the benchmark, if I have 2D and 3D performance test enabled. Completed it by disabling those test.

And here is the score.

Not sure why the display test not success. When it tries the 2D i see some flying android displays, and if I disable 2D, it moves to 3D with a bright picture like a caterpillar moving on screen. but does not complete the full test.

It should complete the test..then there is a sd card test..the slowest of all tests..did you give it 5 minutes odd time?

Oops..just saw your picture..try downloading the 2d and 3d graphics drivers from Android market..might get interesting ideas..

Actually, the test continues ONLY if I disable the 2D and 3D tests. If I have 2D, it shows the flying androids, and then returns back to test screen.

If I have 3D only enabled, it shows the caterpillar type image in colors and returns to test screen.

I did try to search for device drivers, but what I get is all car / driver based games

Yes, I was also disappointed. Seems the Android OS takes almost 1GB? May be?

Is it through browser or the App?

Guess android takes some space. Am using the app. Transition from normal keyboard takes some getting used to.

Between, can't we signout of the app?

Did you try the more options (the ... button down). It should open like 6 options down, refresh etc, and one among them is logout I think.

Re: My first Android Device - Penta IS 701C Review

Have you tested the battery, what is the backup you are getting, I just got hold of an Penta T-Pad IS709C, thats the one you get on Snapdeal for 3995/-, looks good for the price, all features are as good as you have mentioned on your IS701C, only con is the battery, getting only 3 hours on constant use with wifi on. This has been bought by a friend who wants me to check it. This was one comes without root access and scores around 2500 on Antutu. Runs on Android 4.0.4.

Yes, with wifi on, thats similar to what I get. And i heard people using a higher rated power charger to charge it quicker. I have not tested though.

2500 on Antutu is better than mine. I still need to figure out why the 2D & 3D tests are not able to be run in mine.
