Hi,
Now I know this is a bit off topic but I'd like some help regarding the memory stick. A few days back I was gifted the Sony DSC-T1 Digi Cam. Awesome camera if you ask me! The only thing is that the 32MB memory stick is insufficient. I was thinking of buying a new one & I'd like to know for how much would 64MB stick retail? Also is 64MB enough or 128MB is worth going in for?
I've posted the link below for the camera

http://www.sonyindia.co.in/sonyind....=DSC-T1

Thanks.

Hey Rj

Congrats on your new cam. I would suggest you to go for a 128 MB memory stick. That would be better. You can buy them at Dadar from this shop called J. J. Mehta & Sons. They are cam specialists and they stock everything

Here is their website and all prices of Cameras, and Accessories including Memory sticks are given there J.J.Mehta & Sons

Cheers

Hey Rj,

Thats a really cool ultracompact cam man! congrats....
The only bummer is that the price on the sony india website is exactly TWICE that of what the cam is availabe for in the states!!

About the memory sticks, firstly since your cam is 5MP, personally i would never shoot at more than 3MP (which is also more than enough), so that choice in itself cuts your storage requirement almost in half.
Now the choice between 64 & 128, it basically depends on how much you are planning to use the "movie" function of your camera.
Just as a reference point, memory stick DUO 128mb are available for $45 in the states, so JJ Mehtas price aint SOO bad.

cheers

Hey Aadix,

Im assuming the nokias you are talking about use Secure Digital (SD) Cards.
(aka SDMMC = Secure Digital MultiMedia Card)

Here are the prices ive seen
64MB - $17-$20
128MB - $25-$40

Naturally the better known brands like Lexar and Sandisk are on the higher side of the cost scale.
I have no clue about the Nokia SD cards, but my guess is that their prices will be unnecessarily high.

A good way to get your hands on a 16MB or 32MB SD card is to find someone who has a digital camera which works on SD cards (eg. Canon SD110) that comes bundled with a 16/32MB card, and then convince them to upgrade to a 128mb+ card and buy the old card off them, since it will be sufficient for phonecam pics storage, but may not have been for the larger size digicam pics.

cheers
R

Hey Aadix,

The proportions of the pic you have posted, as well as the lack of a "read only" switch make me think that this is actually a smartmedia flashcard, and NOT an SD card.
Does the reverse of the card look like the contacts on a sim-card ? (but bigger)

Hey thx Rehaan..tell you what..6months back I got another digicam..it was Sony DSC-U40 bloody small thing ! So this year has been very 'picturesque' for me

Btw which card do you use yourself? 64 or 128MB? I don't plan to use the movie function a lot...so I guess 64 should be enough?

Hey RJK,

I use a 12x 256 and a 40x 512 (CF cards). As well as a 256SD on my PDA :P

Im a pretty big fan of the movie function on my cams. Plus i never like to run outta storage n i shoot like a maniac... so it makes sense for me.

OK Aadix, lets try this again

The one on the left is the smartmedia card, and the one on the right is the SD card.
Is the Nokia card either of these??

Let me know!
