Chennai doctor uses Google Glass to stream operation, live!

Just going through Times of India news online and had goose bumps to read about a doctor using google glasses to make the operation live to public.

http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/t...w/22671453.cms

I wan't too comfortable after reading this. Are the doctors use different technics at the cost of their patients or its really required to use all these technologies? I heard sevaral tragic incidents at the same hospital. Not sure if these gestures are for media hype...

Surgeries are already shot and recorded. Its just a different device being used for that. Only fear is that the doctor should not be viewing anything else and it should be strapped securely !

Re: TOI: Chennai doctor uses google glass to air operation live. Would you recommend

Pros :

1. Is an invaluable educational tool to the next generation of doctors.

2. The doctor is very much aware that every single action of his is being followed and likely to be questioned, hence he would perform at his level best.

3. In case of medico legal cases, the recording will be an irrefutable piece of evidence.

Cons :

1. Possibility of distraction is present but we must take into account the fact that all medical college professors are used to giving detailed explanations during surgical procedures so that the interns can learn from it.

I would agree to the above if there is a dedicated person to record the operation. But a doctor doing both is not at all impressive and it is surely a distractor.

What I would like to see is doctor being able to see vital information on his screen without having to turn around.
