I have 2 55 inch 2020 OLED C9 tvs. Both have dead pixels around the bezels. One is so bad that it needs immediate replacement. I dont want to go for OLED anymore, which one is best for price of about ₹ 1L.
Sony X90L?
Samsung QN90?
any other recommendations?

I was actually referring to the below quote from you when I inquired about the settings
"This is my first TV with motion smoothening and that has a negative effect on me. The resulting soap opera effect troubles me as even well shot movies appear like home video to me. I watched most of the episodes of Night Sky on the TV and most of the action (there are not many) appear like a bunch of kids playing with toy guns. To disable motion smoothening I have to enable film maker mode - but to access that option I have to disable intelligent picture mode. Now, intelligent picture mode disables a host of automatic adjustments the TV does to the picture based on surroundings - including auto brightness. A bummer, if you ask me. Disabling intelligent mode immediately resulted in a washed out picture, but setting the picture mode to Cinema saved the day although the picture is now a bit warmer than I like. I guess I have to continue with me experiments with picture settings to get the best out of it."

Did you get a solution for the above?

Thanks again!

That was just an initial bother. I don't even remember what mode was finally set, but it stopped being a worry later on.

If you need a real con, the tizen interface is extremely unreliable. It stutters and sometimes freezes for a few secs. I don't think it is the proc or the RAM that is the culprit, cos once inside an app, the performance is okay.

I am contemplating buying a 65" LCD television Samsung or Toshiba for my parents in India and have been researching from last few weeks, I have shortlisted these 2 brands primarily, prices are almost more or less the same.

Haven't looked for Sony as I feel these days they aren't VFM.

My concerns are;

1) I am planning to buy this online through Amazon, how sensible is to buy TV online ?
2) This will be shipped to our home in a very far flung area (village in the mountains), how technical services could be availed if any issue arises.
3) Which brand should I go ahead with, I'm not a very tech savvy and neither my parents are. I would be looking for fuss free experience.

Samsung - Samsung 163 cm (65 inches) D Series Crystal 4K Vivid Ultra HD Smart LED TV UA65DUE70BKLXL (Black) - Price - Rs.64K

Toshiba - TOSHIBA 164 cm (65 inches) 4K Ultra HD Smart QLED Google TV 65M550MP (Black) - Price Rs. 60K

Any other brand I should look into for the same price range ? Any positive feedback to look from flipkart ?

Appreciate your help and thanks in advance.

We recently picked up two Toshiba units for office thanks to a great deal going on + better specs than other 'branded' units out there.

Some points to note:
- I believe the Toshiba is just a Hisense TV in essence, with the Toshiba branding. Shouldn't be a deal breaker as a friend has been using for 2+ years happily.
- The picture quality (refresh rate, sound quality, etc.), features (such as wireless casting via inbuilt Apple Airplay, etc.) made sense given the usage
- Do note we picked up the Toshiba for 53K on Amazon during the sale with bank discount making it great VFM. In fact, we got the 75" 350 model for 65-69K with the EMI option.
- The Toshiba is a 2 Star tv in terms of electricity and green ratings (the 75" is a 4 star I think but probably fewer features working - voice commands, etc. in background and thus less consumption).

As for service - generally these TVs don't give issues and when they do - more often than not replacement works out easier, but I couldn't find a service center for Toshiba TV as easily as I could for Samsung.

X90 series should be a good choice. However, I'd like to suggest, look at the new QD-OLED or LG G3/G4 series.
LG has done wonderful job with MLA tech and apart from beautiful aesthetics, G series comes with the heatsink and I'm hoping it won't have the burn-in related issues.
I've got a Sony A95K QD-OLED for a couple of years now and very happy with that, movies are simply great with the QD-OLED.

Was in the market for a 40 inch TV to replace my old 32 inch Samsung in the bedroom. The TV unit was designed for a 40 inch maximum which meant I couldn't get bigger sizes.

Checked out a few TV's and somehow never got the confidence to pick up a Vu, Hisense, etc and decided to keep to the bigger brands.

My living room has a LG G3 OLED and that meant whatever TV I saw didn't match the OLED. I was trying not to spend a lot for bedroom TV as it wasn't for longer use.

I avoided Samsung only cause of Tizen and decided between Sony and LG. LG's non OLED were really sad in picture quality. The Sony had 2 models, one was X75L for 45K INR and X80L for 65K. The X80L was visibly better in colours and clarity. Reason was the Triluminous Pro display tech which is similar to Samsung QLED tech from what I could read.

I ended up calling my LG store manager whom I bought the 65 inch G3 from last year. He told me the G4 is out and 42 inch is just a shade under a lakh. Just felt too much of a stretch from the Sony X80L. Then he messaged me back saying there is a 2023 old lifestyle model available for sale brand new at a discount. The LG LX1 Pose Object collection. This is akin to Samsung Frame but an OLEd TV.

https://www.lg.com/in/lifestyle-scre...ose/42lx1qpsa/

At the price of a Sony LED TV to get an OLED panel even if a year older was a no brainer. I ended up picking it up.

Once you use an OLEd it's difficult to go back to non OLEd panels. The difference is just too visible to ignore.

So I called up LG they sent a technician to check the damage. He said since they are out of warranty nothing can be done.
Later after a few minutes he said if I take their AMC worth 30k per tv, he will replace the panel and other faulty parts for free and this AMC is valid for 2 years.

What do you guys think? Should I go for it?

New OLED tv is going to cost atleast 1L and once you have experienced OLED there is no going back. However, my dad and brother are more adamant in buying a QLED tv for like 70-80k and have that peace of mind.

I have Samsung 50" QLED purchased 2.5 years ago. Recently, some dead pixels started showing near the bazel. Luckily I have 7 yrs screen burn cover which was given by Samsung during the purchase as a special festival offer. They replaced panel under warranty, otherwise out of warranty charges were 32k. Now a days, TV panels are not built to last and any TV can go kaput. While buying new TV, go for maximum brand warranty or buy extended warranty as much as possible. I am not sure about the technician offering AMC for you. Is it from the brand or that particular service center? How much warranty is he giving on replaced panel? How much does panel replacement cost otherwise?

It will be from the brand itself but they will do some juggad to show that it was working fine when AMC was bought and problem occurred only after buying the AMC. AMC is valid for another 2 years.

Any idea on budget QLED TV’s that are under 45K ? I’m looking at the TCL C-641B , seem to have surprisingly good opinions

TCL seems to have the most models within this budget and my experience with them has been great so far. Here are a couple of other models worth considering as well.

https://www.flipkart.com/tcl-139-cm-...ISq2hC001Rsiii

https://www.flipkart.com/toshiba-m55...ISq8v5001WlPHU

If you want a cheaper option: https://www.flipkart.com/infinix-zer...ISqlSw001oTsIT

A completely overlooked brand is Phillips which is what I ended up with when my 10 year old LG Plasma died, and was cheerfully told by the technician it's E-waste.

I was clear I didn't want to spend more than 40k for a 4K 43" (space availablility) and went and checked out the Budget Sony, LG, Samsung, VU, etc. The first thing I realised is all stores play 4K on the vivid setting which looked great intially but became irritating for me coming from a plasma. On playing and comparing the same videos, both at 4K and regular 1080P I found the Samsung picture quality superior to the Sony, Croma, Toshiba, and VU. The sound quality is honestly about the same with the usual 2 speaker setup and even the VU with a subwoofer wasn't much better. I had almost settled on the Samsung 43" for around 40k when a wholesaler I knew said to come and check out some excess stock he had including some commercial Samsung's that are supposed to have better quality parts and come with a 3 year warranty.

Cutting the long story short, on comparing the Samsung and the Phillips (a complete dark horse) I couldn't tell any difference in picture quality and ended up getting a Phillips 7400 series 50" IPS 4K UHD for 30k!

Took it home and set it up, and after tweaking the settings slightly got a picture quality I was happy with. The interesting part is the quality when playing the same 4k/1080p content through a Binge box vs direct stream to the TV The direct stream is a lot clearer with better colors and details. The viewing angle isn't bad but nothing like the plasma.

The most surprising bit is the sound quality from the two piddley speakers which on movie mode is clear and room filling with enough body and weight where I don't feel I'm shortchanged and require a soundbar.

All in all very happy with the purchase. Now all I have to do is pry the remote (which can double as a hammer) from my daughter's hands.

Wow ! Didn't know Philips is still alive in the television market. Never seen one on display in showroom (may be I failed to notice). Any idea about after sales support, parts availability?

First of all wait for prime day sale on 20th for good discounts.
And please don't buy costly stuff from Flipkart. If something goes wrong then there customer service is the worst. Amazon service has gone down in recent years but still miles better than flipkart.

Although reviews on you tube were positive when I checked Amazon they were mixed bag. I am looking for a new tv for living room in 55inch size. I have shortlisted 4 tvs.

This tcl one.
Toshiba 650mp ( Brightness is less than U7k but price is very attractive.)
Hisense U7k( prime contender). I expect it's prize during prime day sale to fall below 50k.

Last one is Sony X82L. I have a 55inch Sony in bedroom and it's fantastic. PQ and up scaling of a Sony TV is the best in my opinion. So my bias towards this is evident. It usually goes for 80k+ but I expect this to hit around 65k during the sale. As it's a living room tv and won't be used much so still debating in my head if I should spend 15-20k more for this. Let's see what the offers come.

1+1 year warranty and the Technician comes home. The chap I bought it from says the Phillips TVs he's supplied have been very reliable till now. Forgot to ask him what 'now' means.
