Hi,
Have you heard about oil filled heaters ?
What are oil filled heaters ?
Any one using them ?
How are they different from conventiional heaters/Blowers ?
Do they result in power saving or better performance ?
Yeah ! I think they are called Heat Raditors, have 4- 6 huge fins filled with Oil..I forgot the brand..!
The best Power saver would be to go for Quartz element heaters, I have 3 from Clearline and Bought them 5 winters ago and they still run fine..!
These are energy + Cost Effective compared with the Oil Heaters
I've got a deLonghi Oil filled radiator - 7 fin, 2000w - marketed by Birla.
The cost was ~Rs 4500.
As compared to my old 1200w heater (the glowing element kind) , the entire room gets warmed up faster and more uniformly.
The other kinds are cheaper though and I miss teh faux fireplace effect I used to get from my old heater.

One good thing of that kind of heater would be that once the oil gets warmed up, it can cut itself off for a longer time because the oil will take some time cooling down. The secret in saving electricity lies in choosing a thermostat setting that will require '
minimum reheating'.
It need not be "
always on" like a glowing/electric coil heater or a quartz heater.
Reviving this old thread.
Could someone suggest shops in Bangalore where I can get a room heater? I checked with Pai and Chroma, but they don't stock any.

You can try in MK Retail, Hypercity, More mall etc.,. They will also be available in Avenue Road if you are looking at less expensive options.

For those who would still like to know
1. These are heaters where heating medium is oil
2. Plenty of people
3. Here the oil temparature is regulated by a thermostat, hence they do not overheat. The thermal transfer is by means of radiation, convection and conduction, where as radiant heaters use radiation and conduction. I have dried wet clothes on the radiator a feat impossible in normal heaters.
4. Yes oil heaters save power by switching off when set temparature is reached. Further as they have a large number of fins, they heat the room more evenly.
@Aroy any idea where can I get a couple of 12/13 fin radiators from DeLonghi, Black & Decker or similar. Can't seem to find them anywhere because of these not having the ISI mark. Maybe someone might have some old stock.

Try some online store, may be ebay, etc, and last the futurebazaar.
I use 8 fin Orpat Oil filled radiator heater, its good VFM.
I've seen similar bajaj however it was 4k+
There are Thermic fluid heaters manufactured by Thermax used forindustrial heating applications. The oil which circulates is called thermic fluid by Thermax, which is oil. For use in acid pickling shops used to remove rust and/or traces of corrosion prior to painting in boothd

You can try Lajpatrai market/Bhagirat Palace, where most of the wholesalers have their shop. Else Lajpat Nagar or Karol Bag where there are a lot of retailers. Again Great India Place in Noida has quite a good collection.
Now its available everywhere in gurgaon - even the 11 fin one. I bought one ten days back - Euronics for 5600. The 9 fin is 4500-4700 approx.
The 11 fin is required for a room size of 15x15 ft. it doesnt heat quickly but makes it nice and cozy
Yes. I have had one since 1999. Excellent for gently heating a room.
