My friend is looking for a dishwasher

Which one is good - Bosch or Siemens?

What are the key points to check/consider before buying the same?

One which provides best service support. Bosch/ Siemens both are very good brands, but should a problem crop up, you will need prompt service as a dishwasher becomes a very important appliance once you get used to it or better to say you get dependent on it. Go for one which has a better service reputation in your area.

I am also in the same dilemma of the service provided by these two in Bangalore. Has anyone got any experience with Siemens or Bosch in Bangalore?

If he is going to use it often, both should be okay. I have used IFB and because the usage was quite less, about once in 45 days or so each time we wanted to start it we would have to call the Service advisor to clear salt . Apparently that happens if you dont use it often. I am not sure how true it is but it only worked after the service guy came to fix it.
At the end of the day just sold it off.

No experience with Siemens, but i have seen IFB improving ( still have their washing machine). Earlier they used to take ages to respond to an complaint, now once you give them a call to their support number things start rolling and someone does contact you the next day.

Edit: Sorry if you only meant Bosch, IFB Bosch is so implanted in my head I always get confused. :D I think they tied up with Siemens after that but there was another split. So all confused who is what. Lol

Thanks saket77 and sammyboy

Most probably will go with Siemens, as we get 10% discount on MRP.

Is there any key factors we need to consider while selecting?

cutlery tray is one feature we want, any other useful features we need to consider?

I have a Bosch Dishwasher and service levels are acceptable. Please note that Bosch and Siemens share service centres. So, both companies provide the same quality of service. There is nothing to choose between them when it comes to service.

Thanks sammyboy and gopalnayak. Probably I will go with Siemens.

Where are you getting this 10% off? Is it an online site or a local dealer.

You are welcome!

Let's just hope that you never have any problems for the next year or two as warranty can be dicey for online purchases whether it be Snapdeal, Flipkart or anyone else.

I finally have decided to purchase the Bosch SMS40M52EU »SilencePlus« dishwasher. The equivalent Siemens was not in stock. Hopefully the dealer will have it delivered and installed on the weekend. The Bosch and Siemens tech here is pushing to install a filter in the inlet tank. Is this needed?
I ordered Finish products but am not sure if they will be delivered by Saturday. Any other good alternatives? I saw somw Fortune and IFB products onlone. Are Finish tablets available in India?

I think some tablets are available in India; though not sure if by Finish. I have been using IFB consumables and they are good. A kg of dishwasher salt costs Rs. 115/- and the detergent costs Rs. 300/-. I have done away with using rinse aids long ago.

I have recently bought a 5.5 kg front loading Sharp washing machine from Ezone, phoenix city mall, mahadevpura, bengaluru, for

1. reasonable japenese quality from Sharp ( hopefully)
2. since they are new to this business in India, i am hoping they are putting there best products.

3. good price : 18,300/- after exchaning my semi-automatic whirlpool

4. plus 10 % cash back from HDFC cards

I have been always unlucky with washing : Onida ( i will never touch their products again) and then whirlpool. this time I am just keeping my fingers crossed.

thought I will update , incase it helps anyone of you..

I have been using Finish consumables for well over a year, excellent. They are reputed to be the best in Europe as well.

The installer will be carrying some stock which you can buy. He asked me before coming home if I wanted him to bring them when he comes. These are also available in most supermarkets. In chennai we get them in Nilgiris.
I however source tablets and cascade packs from the US. My wife feels they are more effective than Finish powder available here.
