I have tripped an ELCB by cutting a line that I absolutely knew was turned off. I assume that, as the live was isolated by the switch, it reacted to shorting the neutral and earth.

It plunged me into darkness, wedged into a small space behind a half-installed washing machine. I was not happy!

I would reset it and it would work for about 5 minutes and trip again irrespective of load (all MCBs off). 30 minutes later, when the electrician came and unplugged the geyser everything went back to normal. I wanted to check again, so I plugged in the geyser, but this time it did not trip! And it has been that way since (couple of days).

Even if the all other MCB are off if the power supply is crappy, the ELCB can trip. Just a few hrs ago my ELCB tripped because I heard a electrical arcing sound in the area, which commonly called has transformer burst sound.

After a nightmare with my parents 2-3 year old Godrej Washing Machine service, I have decided to junk it and buy a new Washing Machine. I was looking at a Samsung WM - this one - https://www.amazon.in/Samsung-Fully-...dp/B08HZ5XQD3/

This seems to be without exchange & it's 2000 Rs cheaper than what my neighbourhood shop is offering with exchange. So are there any catches with ordering from Amazon. I have never ordered an appliance online till now & hence asking. Is it delivered & installed in time usually from Amazon? Do they give fresh stock?

We ordered a LG washing machine a couple of years ago from Amazon - no problem at all. LG sent their technician and he did an excellent job.

Have bought one Bosch washer from Amazon which is now more than one year old. I ended up saving a cool 10K compared to what the nearest brick and mortar shop quoted- that too for a slightly lower model. This model that I got was newly introduced and the physical shop didn't have it. So, my savings would be even higher.
Amazon sent a third party installer- not Bosch, who came exactly on time that I opted for installation despite heavy thunderstorms. So, it was a good experience- both product and installation wise. The only thing, this wasn't installed by Bosch technicians.

Regards.

So my Godrej Washing Machine Nightmare.

My parents had a 2 year old Godrej fully automatic toploader. Around 20 days back, it was not powering on. Godrej sent a guy who changed the PCB (4500 Rs). It started powering on, but then the drainage of water was not working, it was giving an E2 error. So guy came back & said drain motor needs to be changed. Got the drain motor next day (Rs 1300), but it took him an awful long time to fit it - he said something is missing. Finally he managed to fit it & tested it & said it will work now. Next day again E2 error. He came back & said the drain motor switch needs to be replaced (450Rs). Next day again E2 error. He stopped picking up my calls. I complained to Godrej. They said they will send a senior technician. Senior Technician came, he said wrong drain motor has been fitted. So instead of sending him again to replace the drain motor, Godrej sent a third guy. This guy was supposed to reach at 2:00 pm next day. Finally reached at 8:00 pm. He replaced the drain motor with the right one & but still not working. He said the wrong drain motor has shorted the PCB so PCB needs to be replaced again (Free). He said he will come back 2:00 pm next day. Finally reached at 9:00 pm. Replaced the PCB & said it would be fine. Today, the drain is continuously draining i.e. machine never gets filled up because drain is permanently draining.

And the biggest thing in all this is that neither the company, nor the service center nor the mechanics care. It's like the working of PSU company or even worse.

So finally decided to junk this 2 year old machine & ordered a Samsung off Amazon. Never again will anyone in my family touch anything from Godrej.

Have you checked the correct way to position the drain pipe? Just check the manual and be sure because some machines rely on position of the drain pipe in a certain way and forming an ‘S’ tap so that water doesn’t drain by gravity.

Just my two cents before you spend on new machine.

Usually, the hooked-over part of the drain pipe should be above the level of the machine.

Already ordered. Other issues also with the machine popped up. The machine turned off automatically today. And the E2 error also happened again. It's a terrible machine from an absolutely terrible company.

Request feedback on LG Dishwasher please. We had booked a Bosch 13 plate setting model way back in July and after 5 months there is still no concrete delivery date. The dealer is willing to refund the advance of 5k or he is asking us to opt for the 12 plate setting model since this seems to be available. In the meanwhile, I have received some gift vouchers of flipkart from my Amex credit card for nearly 45k. Since LG dishwasher is available in flipkart for about 58k, we are looking at purchasing this. Two concerns remain, one, I have never bought any big time home appliance as this before from online. So a little wary of potential issues. Second, although my purchase is mostly taken care by the vouchers I hold, I still find 58k for a dishwasher to be very high, I was offered the Bosch 13 place setting model at less than 45k earlier in July, which obviously hasnt arrived until now.

So, are LG dishwashers better than Bosch? The German brand seems to be a pioneer in dishwashers whereas LG is still relatively new in this segment. I could wait for another one month for Bosch, but this availability of Vouchers has made me to rethink.

My friend just purchased the Lg dishwasher from a Lg store and is awaiting a demo. Currently in Chennai this is the make available in stores. He paid 48250 after credit card discounts plus 1500 rs worth of finish tabs free. Ive realized now never to buy such appliances online though i had purchased my bosch on Amazon three years back. The white color is even cheaper.

So though Amazon showed the delivery date to be 1 week after ordering - in reality, it was delivered the next day itself. And 1 day later the install guy came. So all in all, it was a smooth process & the machine was much cheaper than anywhere I checked locally. The machine was delivered by Kohinoor Televideo (their name wasn't shown on Amazon website though). Before ordering from Amazon, I had tried calling Kohinoor many times to check their prices but could never get through. But they usually have very good prices in their stores also.

The lowest Im seeing online for LG dishwasher is around 57k. However, like you mentioned, Im very concerned about buying something like a home appliance from online, especially when its close to 60k. Im leaning towards buying this offline and saving the flipkart vouchers for something less risky.

This is how it has been mounted due to lack of space in his kitchen. The final plumbing is still pending.

IMO this dishwasher is mounted too high and users will have a hard time filling it up, specially the top rack. If you can, try to mount it at least a foot lower, or explore a space near to the kitchen where you can fix it without major modification.
