We have LG front load for last 6 years now, no issues whatsoever. Same goes for our LG fridge.
You can safely go with LG. People in my circle have tried Bosch washing machines and the feedback has been a mix of positive/negative.
Hey guys I am looking for some kind of oven which helps in making good Tandoor/Grill/Barbecue or Kebab kind of stuff at home. I like to have the Grilled Chicken or Kebabs or the stuff they make it in Tandoor which we get in restaurants. Which oven would be the best to get best or atleast closer to the one we get tandoor based from restaurants.
Sometimes back, I was researching for a new toaster and found out about the Mitsubishi toaster. Quite amusing, but it's the Japanese attempt to do just one thing, and do it really well. Toasts just one slice at a time. :Shockked:

Need to purchase chimney and hob for my new apartment. I have very little knowledge of this domain.
Please suggest what features to keep in mind while selecting chimney and hob.
Please suggest good brands with decent service in Bangalore.
Looking for value-for-money options for both chimney and hob, ideally upto 15k each (may be upto 20k max).
Which chimney is better suited for Indian style cooking - baffle filter based or filterless ? Which is less noisy ?
What is the advantage of brass burners in hobs ? Are they really worth the premium ?

Update on the Galanz tumble dryer. Works far far better than my existing IFB EX one. Clothes are nicely dried without over-drying and are so much less wrinkled than earlier. :thumbs up. Further, it is really silent compared to the IFB again.
Still trying out the options though. Will also connect it to a power monitoring switch to check power consumption.

I bought an Agaro 25 Liter OTG with Rotisserie motorized function several years ago from Amazon. I have been using this to Bake, Grill and Barbecue. The Rotisserie is pretty useful to grill a full chicken - like they do it in restaurant .

Does this throw out hot air? Does this have only a water drain or an air exhaust as well?
My washing machine is placed under the stairwell, connected with an air conditioned lobby. While we have water and drain points, I can’t have the dryer throwing out hot air into the lobby.
How are the noise levels?
My 7-8 year old LG TV which has given so many problems is now giving a new problem.
There is a mild humming sound from the TV. I googled & there were suggestions that switching the TV off, unplugging it, keep it off for sometime may fix the problem & it did. But the problem came back the next day & had to do it again.
If this is a problem with the TV itself, then I am going to get a new TV of a diff brand because this TV has been a huge headache & I have spent loads of money repairing it time & again. However, I just want to first make sure it is a problem with the TV?
Can this humming happen because of some issue in the power supply in that switchboard instead of in the TV itself?

Hi, only an exhaust air vent at the back. No drain holes as far as I can make out. It came with a neat expandable plastic pipe (~6 feet) that can be fitted to the vent. I don't need it because mine are on the terrace under a tiled roof. It simply vents out from the back.
I fear you will need to somehow channel the hot damp air + dust + lint out of your residence. Also, it does get hot during the drying cycle, do factor that in your AC'ed location.
I found the noise to be acceptable, like a washing machine in the 400 rpm delicates spin cycle. More background white noise rather than irritating.

This might happen if the STB and/or other connections to the TV are carrying a mild current/voltage, pls check by disconnecting each such one in sequence and you might be able to isolate the culprit.

You need a condenser dryer. BSH Group sell them in India and so do Beko. They condense water into a tank that you have to empty after every couple of cycles. BSH Group even sell an optional plumbing kit that you can connect to a drain. There's also a condenser unit you need to clean ~quarterly.
They are, however, less efficient than vented dryers so if this is for regular use you might want to consider investing in a heat pump dryer (Samsung sell them in India).
We've had one since 2017 (a Bosch WTE8400IN).

My understanding is that heat pump type dryers take a lot of time for a cycle - in tune of 3 hours. Your Bosch dryer is condenser type. How good is it? How long does it take to dry a full mixed load?

I usually leave it unattended for a long time after the cycle ends (the anticrease runs intermittently for 12h after the cycle) but I remember it taking around 1.5-2h for a full load (i.e., from a fully loaded 7kg washing machine).

We like it better than the old IFB we had. It's larger, quieter, and faster. But the moisture sensor isn't very good, sometimes the elastic in pants remains damp.
Hi Team,
My folks are looking at a new refrigerator. This is to replace their aging Siemens which is close to 15 years old. This refrigerator has worked between average to okay I'd say. Has had 3 electronic control unit replacements. Service is generally prompt but each of those part replacements have been Rs. 10,000 each! Not exactly cheap considering the fridge cost Rs. 44,000. Cooling has not been great either. Ice cream hardly ever freezes and I felt the freezer could not bring down temperature low enough.
My folks have a few basic requirements:
- No more than 2 doors. A regular old school refrigerator
- Between 500l and <600l capacity.
- Power savings. The old Siemens draws a lot of power
- Preferably white. In window shopping my folks have done so far, white seems extinct so is okay if we don't find one. Just nothing with flowers or patterns on it. A plain facia.
- Peace of mind
We're inclined to look at the usual market leaders in this space such as LG and Samsung. If there are others we must consider, we are open to it, provided service is a non issue in Cochin.
