Between MS and Google, the former is lesser evil, only because they have not yet captured the market as much as the latter. Hopefully by the time they catch up, DDG should have their own algos.

Getting more "to the point" results instead of ads when searching the web would still keep DDG more useful meanwhile. Few months back too, Google seemed to have better results but DDG page rank seems to have caught up (the algo is supposed to improve over time).

Can't disagree with the points you made. Although I doubt that sear results have improved dramatically (i have not noticed such a change).

They use MS for their whole ad infrastructure, unlikely they will be able to rebuild it on their own in the short term.

Still a great product, which I continue to use. To me the letdown was - they were not really upfront on this.
