Microchip implants to lock and unlock cars

While visiting US related to work, we had a client who did a presentation about their new product.

What if you could unlock your car open your door, place a call with a chip? Same applies to your house lock etc. I am talking about human microchipping. Surgically adding implants underneath your own skin.

I literally saw how it is done in a car with a wave of a hand and in a Samsung door lock. Humans have been putting microchip inside body for medical purpose for years now. But doing it for convenience takes it to another level, technology is constantly evolving and everyday there is something new and innovative to keep up with.

Re: Microchip implants to lock and unlock cars

Interesting idea, but why would I go through surgery when my smartphone can do all of that (and more)? 99% of car owners anyway roam around with a smartphone in their hand or a smartwatch on their wrist.

OEMs are also experimenting with biometrics to unlock the car & start the engine.

Totally dislike the idea of any sort of invasive implants in human body just for sake of slight comfort.
Plus we already have biometrics in usage for most stuff, including our smartphones that we use more than our cars.

Don't put anything technological in your body unless it's a medical device because either the chip or the device will become outdated

Yeah I do not understand the point. If we are building a microchip reader, we might just use biometrics! May be twin authentication for extra security. Say fingerprint and iris scan.
