After setting up your Meta Ray-Ban, VPN connectivity isn't needed. However, the Meta View app's location access must be disabled and a VPN connection is necessary to install future updates.

Another thing I had to do was create new meta account instead of using my facebook or Instagram account after connecting to the VPN. I could not enable AI Look and Tell feature with VPN and existing accounts.

Wonderful review. Had a couple of questions
1. How did you change the lens? Did you need to go to Ray Ban India?
2. How do you clean the glasses? I have a habit of washing my spects with hand wash soap. This is probably not feasible on the RBs.

Thank you. I just went to a regular optician in Bandra (Vision 2020). The owner himself uses the Ray Ban Metas so I had some comfort that he knows what he’s handling since he’s changed the lenses on his own specs too as well as for some other owners of the Meta.

I got progressive transition lenses made so they double up as sunglasses with my reading number (1.5 each eye) factored in although I don’t have a number for distance.

I just use a cloth and the usual sprays for cleaning glasses / sunglasses that opticians sell. I don’t treat them any differently from my other glasses / sunglasses which I clean the same way.

As Axe77 said, only the sprays and only the cloths given by them. No soap - it damages the UV/glare lining and also induces scratches.

Meta has announced several new features, a couple of new styles, and improved availability for the Ray-Ban Meta Glasses, the company's AR accessory.

Starting with the new features, the live translate feature that was previously available in Early Access is now rolling out in all markets. Users will be able to converse in English, French, Italian, and Spanish even without an internet connection as long as the language pack is downloaded in advance. You will hear a translated version of what the person talking to you is saying and they can see a translated transcript of what you're saying on your phone.
The glasses now also support being able to send and receive direct messages, photos, audio, voice and video calls from Instagram. You just have to say "Hey Meta, send a message to [insert name] on Instagram."

Regions outside of the US and Canada will also be able to access music apps, including Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music, and Shazam, and you can just ask Meta AI what you want to listen to as long as your default language is set to English.
Finally, the Ray-Ban Meta Glasses are coming to more regions, which includes India, Mexico, and the UAE. There is no firm date on when the glasses are expected to launch in these regions.
