Active subwoofer

Hi all! I have an LG 5 channel DVD music system (FFH-DV55) but it does not have a subwoofer and Im feeling the itch to add one

The system has 5 speakers (Dolby surround) and a subwoofer pre-out (to connect an aftermarket active subwoofer)

Any ideas on where I can get an Active Subwoofer and how much it would damage me in terms of $?

Does JBL make active subwoofers for home?

Everybody make active subs: Onkyo, Sonodyne, Palesha Electronics of Pune (heard them once...are very good), Wharfedale, Yamaha.and many more
Expect a decent one in the price range of Rs.10-15K ..convert to $$ yourself .

BTW, seen one Jamo Sub in Modern World,Domlur, priced around 19k.Definitely sounded better then the Sony Sub they had(that was 11k)

Polk has one for around 10K. It is good value for money.
Sonodyne too has one for the same price.

Among the two I chose Polk.

I would 2nd Sonodyne, have heard one perform in one of my nephew's room and it is amazing indeed. though the other speakers of his are not Sonodyne, the sub-woofer does a great job to go with the others in his setup.

and then there are a lot more, just get off the net and do some window shopping. forget dollars.

IMHO, Sonodyne will offer you most bang for your buck. I need to change my chota chota Yamaha subs. Think I'll go for Sonodyne.

Yes. You can. The .1 in 7.1 channel stand for the subwoofer out. You will also need a subwoofer cable and interconnects for connecting the DVD player to the subwoofer.

Where do we get Polk home audio in Bangalore?

JBL has a model for 10k; 100W RMS - has anyone used it, any reviews?

Sonodyne costs 21k!
