Considering the fact that im gonna be changing my phone anyway after 1 year
It doesn't make any sense to go for iphone 5 at 45,500

Iphone 4 is available for 25-26K brand new box packed.
28K is not a good price.

The iPhone 4 is not worth buying now in my opinion. The 4S will be available at around 34 and its way more advanced than the 4. 5 is pricey for sure. Try an source an unlocked one from the US if you have someone coming over.

If you wouldn't mind missing out on the added features of the 4S or 5, then I would say its definitely worth. I haven't upgraded from my iPhone 4 yet, mainly cause I don't need the extra speed, or screen size or Siri, LTE etc..

The iPhone 4S costs 37k for 16gb at the moment.

I think it is 38.5k right now in Istore .
I have a colleague of mine who uses iphone 4 and he is perfectly happy with it.
He uses it for mails and other stuff on the internet, so he doesnt miss the Siri and other stuffs , so if you want to use the phone for those purpose and dont intend to keep the phone for long time, then why dont you check out some of the iphones that are listed in classified from fellow bhpians .

Cheers.

Getting a iphone 4 now for 28.5K is not worth it. Maybe spend a little bit more and get a Samsung S3 instead.
I tried to sell my 16GB Iphone 4 with Gecko silicon cover and matte screen guard (atleast 1.5K for both) and the best offer I got was 14K.

I have just shifted from blackberry to iOS. My question to the gurus is what data plan would be the best. I was spoilt by the unlimited data usage on blackberry. On an average what is the data consumption on iPhone. Primary usage would be mails, Im, fb, maps and occasional search. No you tube or music streaming. Apparently iPhone uses a lot more data than blackberry even when idle

I feel you can try a 1gb plan and see how it goes.
For mails and other stuff there should not be much data usage .

Anyways depending on your usage you can always switch your plan lol:
Hope it helps.

I use mails, FB, twitter, maps and occasional app downloads/updates. I hardly use 500MB in a month. For everything else, there is Wi-Fi.

I'm on 2G, 3G may tempt people to use it for YouTube and other data intensive apps.

How can an idle device use more data?
I am on Reliance 3G and consume 5 GB in 20 days. Rest 10 days its slow 2G or WiFi :)

Idle device can use data based on your settings like auto email fetch frequency, push notifications, weather alerts etc.

So its not idle. It's what you have set it to be. Thus you can control and it is unfair to say iPhone consumes more.

Exactly my point. All smart phones consume data even when they are idle. It all depends on the settings of each individual hand set. Initially when original iPhone was launched, people were complaining that it consumes more data than BB. But for a reason, the then BB didn't had so many apps/features that iPhones were running on.

Not really, I'm just looking for a simple phone that also has some brand value.
For my app needs I have Galaxy Tab 2 and Macbook Pro 15 inch.

Folks,

I have a few basic queries for downloading music (onto my Windows laptop) and listening on the iPhone5 :

1. Please recommend a few sites from where I can download hindi film music ( old : 1950s to 1980s; preferably free)

2. Ditto for western classical music

3. Which formats for download will be compatible with iTunes to work on the iPhone?

4. If I require a format converter ( ref #3 above), which one will work best?

5. Ref #1 & 2 above, should I simply use iTunes for India if it is clearly better in terms of audio quality?

Regards
issigonis

P. S. :
1. I have downloaded dvdvideosoft ( a freeware) for converting You Tube files to a format compatible with iTunes for loading onto the iPhone

Anything free = piracy, not recommended. Even if you manage to get, there is risk of getting viruses complimentary.

Flipkart and iTunes have good collection of songs.
