I am having a horrendous time with my Samsung Window AC. We have refill gas every year owing to a drainage close by. This year too I had the gas refilled in May. It ran fine for 2 months and stopped cooling last week. Had it diagnosed and this time the leakage was from the rear coil. Since the rear coil is aluminium, it could not be repaired and hence my only option was to replace it. Got it replaced and the A/C worked fine for one day before having another issue. The issue now is that as soon as the compressor kicks in it draws a lot of current and then shuts off. It all happens in a few seconds. The compressor is also making a weird noise. I am afraid this time either the Compressor has concked off or the refrigerant is too much. Can anyone suggest what could be wrong?

Is the MCB tripping or just the compressor that starts and stops? How do you say it draws a lot of current?

The compressor starts, draws in a lot of current (the voltage goes down), and then shuts off.

I had this issue with my samsung split where it would start and the mcb would trip due to excess current drawing. It was a bad capacitor and replacing that worked.

Buddy,

I had a lot of issues with my Samsung Ac. Samsung Ac are just piece of crap. I nearly burnt 10k on my Samsung AC, still there were loads of problem. Even mine had the same issue, used to draw a lot of power and compressor used to make wired noises. Eventually I exchanged this AC for 4K and bought General.

Pls. don't waste your money, repairing this crap. LG, Samsung, Godrej are the worst ACs (its just my personal opinion).

Amit

Even I threw out my Samsung AC after 3 years. Too much problem, and yes it would draw extra load - "It is very powerful Sir" is what the Samsung Mechanic said!

My Voltas is having problems after 1.5 yrs. Gas leak. The recharge doesnt last 3 weeks. My service guy says if the cooling coil has to be replaced its 10K and if from internal unit, its 4K. Is it reasonable?

I am done with other brands and going for only General for my new apartment in a month or so. Does General have their own service teams or do I have to depend on local guys?

What is the approx cost of the copper wire that connects the indoor and outdoor unit?

Did you mean the gas tubing? If so then 600 onward I believe.

In Delhi top grade tubing from Malaysia is around Rs.100/meter. Chinese pipes are much cheaper but inferior, so avoid them.

Will some one please help.

We bought a brand new Carrier split 1.5tonne AC a month or so back. The old one also a Carrier was being changed after 5 years. Now the AC less than a month in is giving problems everyday, it either stops working mid way or constantly shows the EC error code. We have complained to Carrier two times now, even written a mail but nobody seems to help.

It was installed by Carrier guys and everything including piping was done by them. It is a 1.5 tonne split costing nearly 40000 Rs. Apart from the crazy temperatures in Gurgaon, it is the loss of such a huge amount which is constantly frustrating.

Will some one please help, who can I call or write to get this fixed. Some one suggested court but that can be a long and tiring process, though I will go if nothing works out.

Please hoping for some help.

You changed a machine which was only 5 yr old?, the new one is obviously still under warranty I assume, and their call centre should guide with the procedure to seek help apart from talking the complain and sending a service engineer

The warranty booklet would have the details..

From your description it seems that the pcb is faulty

I am sure the seller will also try to help you, what exactly is the response that you are getting from them?

If nothing works, reach out to their newly appointed MD Gaurang Pandya directly

Thanks for your reply. Ya the Carrier person who had come to check the old AC said the compressor has gone and it will cost around 15000 for all repairs, so decided to go ahead with a new unit because I have had a bad case with old unit repairs.

The complain was registered and a guy was sent, this was from the original purchase shop, he said the stabilizer is at fault so got a new one and then he assured us all was OK. Two days in problems come again and I re-complained and this time a new guy was sent from a new service center and he said that the installers have overfilled the gas by a factor of 2. I have video taped all these conversations just to be safe. He did his repairs and left and then two days later same problem now with EC code. I called up Gurgaon office, gave them a piece of my mind and asked for the MD's mail ID. Now it has been over two weeks and this so called MD and his office has not done anything. This being that we have over 7 Carrier AC's installed. Boy do I feel stupid when my father wanted to go Hitachi and I was adamant for Carrier. Not to forget nearly 15000 we spent on repainting the whole wall and doing the filling for the pipes.

Now thats the whole story, so what can I do from here on. Does anybody know anyone at Carrier who will help. I just want to get the damn thing fixed and be done with it.

Thanks for reading.

@eq24; Carrier are down in the world. Hitachi service is also having a poor reputation. I do not understand the 2x overfill, since afaik unless there is a leak the compressor unit has enough refrigerant in it, so no charging is normally required.
