About Printers

Hello,

I am looking to buy a printer for home use.

Requirements :
Good color prints and should justify occasional digital photo printouts. (Not highly professional though)
Budget : 4000/-
Good service network

Checked with some dealers and the options are :

1. HP (3885): 3600/-, with 4800 dpi and refills which vary from 650/- to 1650. One year warranty.
2. Cannon (pixma) : 2700/-, with 4800 dpi and refills from 350/- to 590/-. Two year warranty.
3. Epson (CJ45): 2450/- ,2880 dpi with refills from 350/- to 550/- Two year warranty.

I am not aware of the ink used by HP and if it is really more "Quality" than other compatriots or just the price ?

Checked with some output of prints and I personally narrowed down to Canon. Any users exp. or more recommendations !

Thx
Tarun

i have used HP, Cannon, and Epson printers and i personally agree that canon is the best where , quality of prints, price of refills, and over all service.

epson comes in next with good quality but uses lot of ink so the usage cost goes up like hell when u have an average of 10 prints to be taken perday. service is very prompt and good.

HP is the printer i would never want to buy again, cost of refills too high, cost of repairs too high again, service cant say much as my computer assembly fellow sent his technician but with lot of breakdowns later it is dead. spending a 1000 bucks on a 5000 bucks printer is foolish.

so happy hunting and printing

You might wanna look for any HP Photosmart Printers or any All-in-One (With the new Vivera inks)... I've personally used the HP printers to print 100's of 4 X 6 pictures are they are amazing in quality ( if you are using a good photopaper).

Hey Manaa, thanks for voicing out. I work with HP and I manage the order management team for Asia-Pacific region. I shall pass this feedback to the relevant department.

BTW, you can also log your feedback on the HP website and i've seen them take it seriously. I shall do it on ur behalf though.

Let me know if anyone needs any assistance in terms of service / sales (some discounts too ).

Aditya, We have 4 HP printers in out home & office, and I am of the same opinion as Manaa. The printers are really good. It is only the high cost of toner replacement and even higher cost of repair that is the turn off.

... Good to see this thread being born. I hope i can do something to help.

If anyone can send me detailed emails with the following information I would be able to redirect it to the right team.

1. Printer model and type [Ex: HP Photosmart D5168 Printer (Q7091D)]

2. Problem / issue

3. Where purchased and amount paid with purchase date etc.

4. any other important/relevant info.

Not trying any marketing stunts here. I'm in the BPO and not in sales/marketing dept. Just pitchin in to help frustrated souls.
