Cheapest PC to Phone to call UK?

Whats the cheapest way to call UK from India? Satyam iWay has a VOIP booth where it costs Rs.9/- per minute.

Is there anything cheaper? Its for calling UK Mobiles (not landlines)

if you need landlines then try voipstunt.com
their mobile rate works out at about 12Rs/min, though

Download Nonoh VOIP softphone from Nonoh | Free calls

Its cheapest I have found works 3 cents per minute from europe to india.

many countries including USA are free & it works out nearly Rs1.8 per minute to most paid countries.

Do any one of you have any idea of what happened to HotFone?

I remember using it from UAE, few years back, and they had the cheapest rate at that time for making PC to phone (landline or mobile).

Searching for it now and nothing turned up!

if your friend and you are using unlimited broadband plans (using wireless router etc) or unlimited data plan, then use FRING on your mobile and use skype or msn etc. It is free then.

PS: You can only chat on yahoo and no voice, if you are using "fring". For details see the site fring ? Make free mobile calls, IM with Skype, MSN Messenger, ICQ, Google Talk™, SIP & Twitter, AIM® & Yahoo!™

I have used skype with it and voice clarity was good. only problem is that if the signal is lost then the phone hangs for 2~5 minutes. There are other applications also, but they can't use wireless connection, a boon if you have wireless router at home. Another one is truphone, but this one is unable to use wireless.

I would recommend using Yahoo Voice calls. Have been using it for quite some time. See the link below for pricing details. The good thing is that these rates are from anywhere in the world. Also Yahoo messenger is the only client you need for this, which is available on almost all public PCs. Voice quality is very good provided you have a stable connection.

For US/UK etc it is USD 0.01 per minute for landline. Mobile calls to UK seems to be expensive at about $0.20. In fact US toll free numbers are free. Useful to call such numbers from anywhere in the world.

Call Rates - Yahoo! Voice
