yeah the 400 series is quite affordable and hopefully does the job without all the doohickeys of the 500 series
hope you get a 400va step down voltage transformer which is heavy duty and allows for continuous use vs those 50/1500va shaver voltage converters

This is really cool. I would love to have something like this in my house, coz Ive got 2 dogs.
Where can I find something similar. I can have someone get it for me from the US.

Can someone provide some links to hose robot manufacturers?

Speaking of Roomba, ever wonder how it actually moves?
Here is a long exposure(30 minutes) taken by a 7D!

I believe IRobot's roomba is entering Indian market soon. I was part of a survey for the same, a month ago.

And Eureka Forbes have started their own roomba version, but the performance leaves a lot to be desired. Though it is priced less than 7k, it is not worth at all. (limited algorithms to go around the house, corner cleaning very poor, carpet average)

I am waiting for roomba to make an official entry. Apart from the algorithms, the auto-retreat to the charger makes it very very user-friendly. (did i say user, what user?) hehe

Yes pal, I did and was not impressed at all.

1) way too small dust bin and the dust easily spills-out
2) poor algorithms - I wanted it to clean only the corners of a room. There was one algorithm which combines corners with regular sweeps - the problem was that the corners were navigated only once (leaving 50% of dust still reeling), before the regular sweeps started.
3) poor suction power (no tech specs, but compared to the roomba usage)

i think most of these now dont need adaptors, if you read the plug it says 110-240v.

Is Roomba available in India, I saw listing on 20North, but 20K+ is little too much. Any idea when it will be officially available in India?

irobot service center for all customers is based out of mysore!
I have yet to see anything equal irobot roomba - eureka forbes is not a robotics company they are a vaccum cleaner company. Irobot makes all kinds of robots including industrial and defense ones - as a result they are capable of much more technically advanced consumer robots like roomba, scooba, etc.!
