SMS channels : Google's new product

I've been using google calendar with mobile alerts for long and i find it pretty useful as you don't need to transfer all birthdays onto ur new mobile when u get a new one, instead u are notified by a SMS and all this is free from google.

Now , SMS channels has been launched,

http://labs.google.co.in/smschannels/browse

i jsut registered some hours ago and finding it very useful , news entertainment etc etc would be notified to me , and i would receive SMS for same, and all this is again free from google.

Looking forward to your views on this new product.

yep this is nice. Just hope google keeps the mobile numbers private and we don't start getting advertisement messages and calls.

My mobile has been registered for google calendar for long ( more than 10 months ) and I haven't received any ads of any kinds till now, but I only receive my calendar reminders . So no need to worry about it.

@sahil
if u want to transfer, then using nokia PC suite , you make a backup of all the events from your phone to Outlook CSV format and then add it to google calendar, by using the add calendar button.
