Jaggu, I still prefer OE email client, but I can't set-up the same with GPRS on Airtel Live (as you've pointed out earlier).
Thanks to Google for their Gmail on Mobile app, I can install the same & access mails, which is much faster than accessing Gmail on a browser.

And faster than using Outlook too!
And you can setup multiple gmail accounts in a jiffy!
its so bad, that even with such good hi tech phones, we are pulled back with low end service providers.

I wouldnt blame service provider for this, they offer Airtel Live at a very basic price (Rs 100 IIRC) for basic internet service. For full access they have the a different service known as Mobile Office which obviously is costly also (Rs 399 Onwards). So it more like you get what you pay for.

Its not just with Airtel.. M talking about service providers in general. Idea, BSNL and lot more, dont offer, than what a phone can do. See, Iphones too, half of the features i cant use it, coz the service provider doesnt support.

Nope this is not a solution, its more to do with connectivity restriction by Airtel for its Live connection.
@ Jaggu
1)service providers dont support visual voicemail
2) Access to and music videos to sell the iTunes Music Store will be unavailable
3) 3G is not yet active in India.
4) There is no agreement or commitment or Airtel Vodafone. But the phone is locked to the service provider

1) Yes, but i dont even use voice mail lol, not justifying
2) Yeah but reality is its not carrier but apple who are aware of indian piracy and stuff and feel that it might be a pain to run Music store.
3) Yup this one govt and service provider to be blamed
4) Airtel has only one year lock in, ask and they will confirm the same. Voda is lifetime locked in.

Well, I dont wish to down rate our Indian service providers. But What i feel is, when India is all ahead in technology aspects, and India brains are respected outside India, and we work out for multinationals to give them such techo gadgets , then why not for us...! in India..
Aint we not deserving, to get all such things.
Fring is not getting connected to Net, is this issue again due to GPRS/Edge on Airtel Live?

I would guess so. I downloaded the latest Fring version for Symbian (v 3.37) to be used on Nokia E51. But it doesnt connect. I have been able to connect Fring earlier over WiFi.
Also, did you manage to install the Gmail app? I believe the address to be typed in your browser is
Gmail

Yup, fring needs full connectivity and proxy port causes issues.
Yes Nishant, It looks like Airtel Live doesn't allow Fring access.
Edit: Thanks Jaggu for the confirmation.
For Gmail, I installed the Gmail for mobile app, and it is working fine.
The reason for Airtel Live not letting you connect is because it only allows HTTP/WAP connections. Nothing else. Other protocols will need Mobile Office as others have already explained.
