Jaggu, I still prefer OE email client, but I can't set-up the same with GPRS on Airtel Live (as you've pointed out earlier).
Thanks to Google for their Gmail on Mobile app, I can install the same & access mails, which is much faster than accessing Gmail on a browser.

I wouldnt blame service provider for this, they offer Airtel Live at a very basic price (Rs 100 IIRC) for basic internet service. For full access they have the a different service known as Mobile Office which obviously is costly also (Rs 399 Onwards). So it more like you get what you pay for.

The issue with Windows Mobile 6.1 not being able to send email through POP or IMAP has been fixed with this QuickFix: Download details: WM 6.1 Hot Fix for Sending POP and IMAP E-mail

1)service providers dont support visual voicemail
2) Access to and music videos to sell the iTunes Music Store will be unavailable
3) 3G is not yet active in India.
4) There is no agreement or commitment or Airtel Vodafone. But the phone is locked to the service provider

I would guess so. I downloaded the latest Fring version for Symbian (v 3.37) to be used on Nokia E51. But it doesnt connect. I have been able to connect Fring earlier over WiFi.

Also, did you manage to install the Gmail app? I believe the address to be typed in your browser is Gmail

Yup, fring needs full connectivity and proxy port causes issues.

Yes Nishant, It looks like Airtel Live doesn't allow Fring access.

For Gmail, I installed the Gmail for mobile app, and it is working fine.

The reason for Airtel Live not letting you connect is because it only allows HTTP/WAP connections. Nothing else. Other protocols will need Mobile Office as others have already explained.
