If the degree of corruption is marginal, then you have a chance with all the recover tools, but if the degree of corruption is very high then you have no chance of recovering data.

If you downloaded the rar file from the net, the most probable case is that the file has not been downloaded entirely, so try downloading it again.

Similar problem can occur if the file was copied from one drive to another, particularly if the second drive is a USB connected drive.
Do try on the most 'original' version that you have of the file.

BTW, had there been any gain by zipping a pst file? I think pst files are already compressed, much like jpg or mp3.

Which software had you used for zipping?

Anup, actually yes. the orginal size was about 2GB after zipping reduced it to 1GB...

I used "Winrar"

That's good compression! I never use Outlook, hence have no idea about pst!

Winrar 3.62? What about the built in 'test' utility or the 'repair' utility?

Just a thought!
what happened to the original .pst

if damaged, there are .pst repair tools available for damaged .pst files.

Deleted, understandably!
If 2 GB gets zipped to 1 GB, who'd keep the 2?

Hi,

Is it in a single .rar file or has it been split into small ones?
