Nokia 6681

Hey guys,
Yesterday picked up the new Nokia 6681...
It was a turmoil buying this phone... Heres the story...

Initially i was contemplating on whether to buy a normal phone as i was used to using a PDA phone (O2 XDA2) ...

The biggest problem being whether the new normal phones will be able to access file which i was used to carrying in my PDA for meetings and office work.. But i was amazed to find out that new software like Quickword, Quickpoint and Quicksheet can open most MS Office files... Also there is adobe acrobat to no problems with pdf files either... Now a days bluetooth GPRS Edge is common feature so there was no issue with that either... And finally the camera is a 1.3MP which was better than the one in the O2... I had to compromise on the screen size but i guess at half the price of PDA phones its worth it ... Also the new phones come a 64MB Dual Volt Reduced Size Multimedia Cards upgradable to 256MB... Also it has a new music player which can be used to play MP3 ..

After all this another problem...whether to buy the 6680 or the 6681... I was almost inclined to buy the 6680 specially because there is a titanium(Brownish Dark Grey) colour body which is not available in the 6681 ( White / Silver) and also being tech savey thinking about VDO conferencing and all.... but then again after a lot of thinking i came to the conclusion that whats the point of 2 cameras especially in a place like Pune where we yet have to get the Edge technology and GPRS was launched only about 8 months back and also to do VDO conferencing the person in the front shud have a phone capable of handling VDO conf. Not too many people wud be having such phones so gave up on the idea and also the 6680 is 4000 bucks more expensive than the 6681...

So after all this turmoil i finally took the jump and ended up buying the 6681 for Rs. 22500/-....
Well after 2 days of using it I am very happy with the phone ... Not once have i felt that i made the wrong decision and gave up on the O2 XDA2...

Congrats Evo...6681 is a great phone. 3G is expected by this year end and a feature like video calling would hopefully be a common thing in a year or so. Anyway, doesn't make any sense spending 4k more for a tech that's yet to come. Enjoy your phone....

Cheers!!!

Only the data cable comes with the box everything else is EXTRAAAAAAAAA ....
Atleast they are giving data cable now a days .. earlier getting the cable was the biggest problem since no one used to stock it and was costing a bomb initially....

I am sort off in the same dilemma of wether to pick up the 6680 or 6681......or just wait for the 8800 which doesnt have half the features of the 6680 but i am willing to give that up for the 8800 styling if i get it at a similar price. What are the other difference btwn the 6680 and 6681 apart from the dual camera thing and colors of the phone?

The main difference is the absence of 3G support ( only GSM, no WCDMA). The processor is the same, the OS is the same. Since India does not anyway have 3G networks, no point investing in 6680. Infact my advise to you is hold on for a couple of months and you'll get the latest 2MP camera Nokia phones flooding the market like the N series and 6280/6270...

Cheers!!!

The main attraction in the 6681 is the flash and the 6280/70 dont have that, so the 2mp is useless at night. Checked out the 8800 yest its a stunner...but too expensive ...41,000. The 6681 is for around 23,000 at the Nokia center (official price) If someone has seen this phone for a better price do let me know how much and where its available, i dont care much about it being official with bill and stuff as I am abroad half the year so the local warranty wont really help there. Thnx.

But the N70 is with flash...but probably gonna take sometime to get launched and also I think the N series pricing would be 30K plus. EVO had bought his 6681 for 22.5K. Ebay might have some better pricing...Good luck!
