Some questions -
- How can we procure MMI maps? Do they have an outlet in Bangalore?
- Is replacement of MMI SD card is all that is required in the device for it to read? Am I missing something on the unlocking part?
Thanks!
Device need not be unlocked to add new maps. Adding the new SD Card will add new maps.
Thanks!
If I'm not wrong, this SD costs 7K right?

Will take a Picture and video next time if some one travels with me. I used the MMI 2009 which is unlocked.
One things i tell you MMI is clueless when it comes to Flyovers at least in Banaswadi /ORR Ramamurthy nagar etc which i have traveled. rest is good with lots of POI. Have to explore it more and will update you the same.

The 7K amount is for the maps that you buy from MMI. They should be sending you an SD card, with the key. You insert it into the slot and it should work.

How is the Satguide experience in Bangalore?

That is precise question that I am trying to get an answer! No luck yet.
Satguide is 2K and potentially I have not heard anything against it. Also the numbers of cities they cover is same as MMI.
@Wildon,
I have doubt then. Why you need all these installations (destinator). I checked with Satguide folks. They mentioned, if you have a Garmin device, all one needs is to add an SD card which they provide and it will work out of the box. Where then the destinator part comes in? Is it that one needs to upgrade the Garmin firmware?

Destinator is Satguide GPS application and you can run satguide maps on it. Satguide also provide their maps on Garmis GPS application as well as Windows based GPS application.
From whaterver I have heard, Destinator is not very user friendly when compared to Garmin (it is supposed to be very good). I use Garmin apps and Garmin map on Nokia 5800 and its pretty good, but have nver really tried any other application, so cant compare.

I have a DX unit which came with igo8, now the unit is unlocked, so i can put any software/map which support windows CE system. Presently i have loaded MMI navigator and its MMI map, just wanted to try Destinator/Satguide map to know which is better on the same routes where i m travelling.

In my opinion, its is not worth 7k.
SatGuide sells maps for 2k. MMI does not have anything that warrants more then 3 times premium.

MMI NAVIGATOR and DESTINATOR 8 works fine now but Garmin XT having problem while doing the port settings.
Do you have the solution for this
:Cheering: Got my GPS today :) here are the pics.
Could someone help me install maps for india? please:
I feel one aspect is being totally neglected. In a GPS (like computers, if you work legit) the cost of the software (maps here) far exceeds that of hardware. So this is the area we should consider. The hardware is almost an appendage to the software.
