re: The Mobile Phone Thread - Queries, decisions, discussions all here

Any advices here what all I can look at around 10-12K price levels?
I had Lumia 520 in mind, but the CYAN color is out of stock at online as well as brick and mortar stores ...

So what Android alternatives are available? I can see Xperia E, but then there is a whole gamut of Xperias which I can see - and I am throughly irritated seeing countless versions like E, J, U, Sola, Shabnam and what not ...

How good are the Lavas and LGs?

Thanks a TON, ordered it!
I had made a post in Windows phone thread - but it is relevant here also - since a lot many people use their phones for navigation, and we all get propaganda like "Nokia maps is TEH best" rammed down our throats:

New type of Auxillary

Hello guys.

Recently my friend showed me an aux he bought. The input goes into the aux input of the car whereas the output has various wires coming out. One is a charger for the iphone, second a charger for blackberry and so on a few more chargers. What's amazing is that you can charge as well as play your music through this. Is this possible? How harmful is it for your phone considering the phone is being charged by an aux cable. I'm sure it's very slow charging too. Have any of you heard about it? If it works well, it's a bliss.
Thanks in advance.

Re: New type of Auxillary

^^^ Some phones are supplied with chargers where the cable is connected through detachable USB link. This cable works without any problem when connected to the music system USB port. So the auxiliary you have mentioned should be OK.

This is pretty straight forward. Honda City has an iPod interface (iPhone as well), it connects to the aux port. Once I connect phone, the control is transferred to the music system on car (iPod on the phone is disabled). I can make all selection from the music system (playlists, albums, etc.). Playing and charging happen simultaneously. Since City has an integrated system, the music mutes during call, reduces music for any alerts (including maps). It works like a charm :-)

Your friend's unit should be doing something similar, to a lesser extent. It will not be completely integrated with the car's ICE.

Thank you sa_kiran. Would you have any clue how much this wire would cost? I'm sure you got it with your Honda City but if I were to go to the after market? Also what's this wire called? I don't want to go to a shop and try explaining and eventually if he doesn't understand, end up making a fool of myself

Is the Micromax A120 Pro HD coming any soon or is it just a rumour. The specs are mindblowing.

re: The Mobile Phone Thread - Queries, decisions, discussions all here

Guys, is anybody using windows 8 phones? I have few questions:

1) Can we install gmail app on windows 8 phone?
2) How many games are available?
3) Can I sync its address book with gmail contacts?
4) Can I have outlook and gmail (both emails accounts) in one app like android. (company policy requires exchange service)

Today, I seen Lumia 920 but sales guy was totally dumb and did not know these answers. Also, as per this Nokia Lumia 920 review it says xperia z camera is better. This phone cost almost 40k so it should be having better camera?

I had very bad experience with windows phone in past but I want to give windows a try due to company policy.

There is no app for Gmail. But google account can be added which syncs the emails from Gmail.

Yes, adding a google account syncs the contacts, email and calendar.

Yes. Multiple mail boxes can be linked. Once linked, the inbox view will have emails from both mailboxes.

I was an E71 user for 4 years and the transition has been smooth. I have Outlook.com, Gmail, Yahoo emails synced. One app that I am badly missing is the Google Latitude. Google has not published native apps for Windows Phone for obvious reasons.

Most branded car mounts will be in that range or so.

Why don't you try searching around Menaka, you will find better and cheaper options there.
