Moto G60 or Samsung M51 or OnePlus Nord CE 5G

Current Phone: MI A3 (2 years of Usage)
Budget: 24K
Requirement: Good Batterry, Performance, 8GB RAM & 128GB internal Storage
Not Concerned: Camera
Usage: Normal phone usage, office emails, music, gaming and reading. Looking for a minimum 3-4 years of ownership.

Moto G60 Wife using it since 3 weeks

+ Near Stock Android
+ Good batterry
+ Good performance
+ Well priced (Rs. 18K)
- Heavy & Huge
- Display (Samsung has better ones)

OnePlus Nord

Never used OnePlus phones before

Samsung M51

+ Good batterry
+ Good performance
+ Good camera
+ Excellent display
+ Presumably very reliable
- Expensive (Rs. 24K)
- Average built & design
- Samsung UI isn't very user friendly

Please suggest. Have been using under 15k phones throughout hence always preferred MI. Now I need something stable. Like in cars, I am moving towards Toyota :) need a bullet proof phone too!

Moto G 5G is still the better pick over the Moto G60 despite it being bit older becasue its got better overall specs including 5G capabilities.

The iQOO Z3 is only a spec king. Watch this video-

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-qLF4URnKPY

The G60 is a distant third.

Between the CE and the M51, spec to spec, the CE is better. Better processor, more future android updates, 90Hz display, 5g etc. So in that sense, the CE is better.

Do note that the CE only supports one 5G band, so it is going to be like a lottery case where one can only hope that the carriers will support that specific band.

The M51 has a size and battery advantage and of course the display. Being a Samsung loyalist, I would have gone with the M51.

Though if you do decide to go the Sammy way, I'd suggest the A52. It is practically similar in terms of performance when compared to the M51 but has these advantages-

1. 3 years promised OS updates(M51 might get only 1 more, Nord will get 2).

2. Full fledged Samsung One UI unlike the muted One UI core on the M series.

3. 90Hz display like the Nord

4. Better aesthetics.

It does cost 27k but there are card promotions which keep on popping up every now and then. In fact if you purchase via the Samsung shop app, you can get it for 25k which makes it the default choice.

I'm looking for a phone to replace my 5.5 year old Nexus 6 within a budget of Rs 30k. The top contender is the Pixel 4a. I had also considered the iPhone SE, but the 4a seems like a better overall package.
There is a rumor that the Pixel 5a will launch in another month or two. Pricing is expected to be around 32-35k, and I am willing to stretch to that.
My question now is whether I should wait for the 5a or buy the 4a (whose price has just dropped to 27k) now?
My requirements are:
  • Adequate processing power to quickly switch between apps
  • Clean UI free of bloatware
  • Great camera with good low-light capabilities
  • Reliability (Is that even a thing with phones?)
I'm not a hardcore gamer so an over-the-top processor is not a requirement. Not really a fan of Samsung and Oppo/Vivo. I am open to One Plus, though. :coldsweat
Any other suggestions also welcome.

Latest rumor has it that the Pixel 5a will not be launched in India. :crying
Apparently it will be limited to the US and Japan. I have no plans to travel to either of these countries in the near future, nor do I have any friends/relatives coming down from there. So a foreign purchase isn't an option. I plan to buy a new phone by the end of this year. Any other recommendations the phone experts here can give?

That is a difficult combination to find actually, especially in the mid range and outside of the Pixels.

Your best bet is a Motorola for a bloatware free clean UI (but not so steller cameras), or a Samsung for decent cameras but not a bloat free UI (though the bloat would be considerably lesser compared to the Chinese brands).

Wait for the Samsung M52 and the Motorola Edge 20. Both of them are going to be powered with the latest 6nm Snapdragon 778G chipset, which even has support for the mmwave 5G unlike many other phones.

The other option is to invest in a true flagship that will come with the next gen Snapdragon 895, but that will be way out of your budget

Yeah, I was really keen on the 5a. It would have been a worthy successor to the Nexus.

I have been nursing a dream to get an iPhone 12 for some time, but I cannot digest the atrocious prices Apple is charging for it in India.

I am no phone expert but from your earlier posts and the requirement above, if we leave out Samsung/Oppo and Vivo, that leaves with the below possible candidates. (I don't use phones much for photography so you would have to check reviews in 'gsmarena' which is a very great site for mobile phone reviews.

Realme X7 Max 5G -
Has the latest top of the line Mediatek Dimensity 1200 processor and retails around 26-27k

One Plus Nord 2
Expected to launch on 22nd July. Again with Dimensity 1200 Processor

Asus Zenfone 8
Expected to launch in India soon enough. (Already launched in US)
Top of the line Snapdragon 888 with 5G capabilities, IP68 rated and gsmarena reviews suggest that camera quality, even low light is pretty good. Retail price starts around $599 for 128GB/6GB combo. So should be around 40K when launched in India I believe. And most importantly (From my perspectective) it is compact in size, 5.9" with Gorilla Glass Vectus protection upfront. In the current scenario where the screen sizes are increasing day by day, it is good to have a phone with flagship specs at a decent size.

Also read that Google is readying for launch of Pixel 6, with top specs, unlike the recent launches. So if you are a Pixel fan should be a keeper, but cost would be off the charts I think.

MI 11X @ 29999 with 5K additional exchange bonus and 18 Months NCEMI on Amazon.

Probably the best deal I have personally seen on a phone under 30K. Anyone who is using this phone and what are the reviews?

+ Excellent pricing & deal
+ Powerful Processor
+ sAmoled FHD+ display
+ screen size
+ 360Hz touch sampling
+ 120Hz refresh rate
+ Dolby Atmos
- Brand value for a 30K phone
- Average Camera
- MIUI
- 4250 battery

Reviews mention the phone has some proximity sensor issues which MI hasnt fixed. Having used MI earlier, the software isnt as reliable as that of Samsung.
What could be the reason for such high discounts on a relatively newer phone in the flagship category?

A very interesting read by a written by friend of mine. I never thought that Realme would even find a mention in the 25k bracket. You can read the article here.

I had no plans of buying a new phone (Oneplus 7t was doing just fine), but the offers on the Z Flip 3 pushed it into an impulse buy (pre-book in this case) territory.

I got 4.2K (Samsung referral code discount) + 7K (HDFC instant discount) + 5.4K (extra exchange discount) + ~8k (No cost EMI discount) bringing the total discounts to almost 25K! Effectively you can get a folding phone for the price of an S21, that too with a Snapdragon 888 (no Exynos here). Let's see how it goes - delivery is on 12th Sept.

Is it possible to order the Pixel 5a on Google's site for delivery to India?

How are you able to get the 7K HDFC Instant Discount. I am seeing the Samsung referral code discount, 7k (iphone) extra on exchange or 7k no cost EMI? When I entered my HDFC credit card (Regalia) details, there is no change in the price during checkout?

Can you please guide me on how you exactly ordered to get all the discounts step by step?

One plus is offering free battery replacement for certain older series devices (3, 5 & 6). Charges only for labour. Details in the link below. Kindly read the first post in detail. There is also a post later on which mentions the process.

The 7k instant discount from hdfc gets applied automatically during the payment process . You don't need to do anything. Just make sure the amount being requested on your card includes this discount before entering the OTP.
