HELP - configuring email on Nokia 7610.

Guys,

I use a Nokia 7610 with Orange as service provider. i also have the 99 Rs GPRS active. i want to check email on my phone for my gmail account. is it possible with the 99 Rs connection or do i have to subscribe for the 499 Rs GPRS connection.

I tried the following - set up the mailbox as per gmail settings and configured it to use orange gprs as the default getaway. when i send an email it connects to the GPRS and then...nothing. times it self out ??

what am i doing wrong ??

tried calling the helpline where a long wait followed - dint have the patience. so if anyone could help me ...

thnx

You'll need to subscribe for the "Advanced GPRS" which is 499/- PM. The basic GPRS only allows you to use a WAP browser.

I have a method (haven't tried it since I'm no on Orange) in which you could use the basic GPRS to do more....I'll PM that to you. If you are successful then let me know.

Cheers!!!

Hey Gr8guzzler,

Even though i have the 99/- pm plan on orange, i clearly remember the representative mentioning "free email", maybe that didnt include POP3 ?

NC, please let me know the extent of your success!
