Hi Guys,

the most information I got on this topic around here was this: http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/4x4-te...ml#post1084350

Am pretty impressed by the E20 Fenix. Have read some favorable reviews about it in a few other places as well. But Maglite's got this aura around it. And the weight. Damn that thing can replace club.

But I wanted to bounce this question out to other folks here who have had experience with these expensive must-have's. Especially when camping out in the middle of no-where.

So rather quickly, what torch would you recommend? And approximately what prices do your recommendations retail at?

I am only looking at recommendations for professional torches and not eveready lights.

you should try the stanley hid torch. i have one and i like it a lot.
This is basically a spotlight.

Thanks Arjun. You have a wonderful jeep with you and I missed your virgin performance on Sunday because I had to travel elsewhere.

Can you give us a linky to some specs about your light in specific?

Products under Britelite

these are available locally, and are quite good, compared to regular torches.
Quite durable too. night watchmen at dad's college switched to these. You dont have to buy batteries, and the range is better too

@Venky, best option is to go to Stanly Dealer shop in SP Road and see for yourself the various options he has there. I had been there with Viji and saw a huge collection of GREAT torchlights in all price ranges.

They are VERY good people and will take all the time to explain/discuss which torch will be the best for you.

What's the price range? Want a powerful one?

Every Ready has LED based one starting at 100Rs. VFM for that price but not great for long distance spotting .

Freeplay Kissan torch

It has a Dynamo which charges a capacitor (you have to wind it for a few min) and when it looses its charge, you wind it again, simple.

No battery required. Its LEDs are rated up to 1,00,000 hours or 11 years of continuous use (24 hours a day).

Any idea where can we get Freeplay torches in Delhi ??

Dealextreme.com
How powerful do you want? You'll find 1000 lumen LED and HID torches there.

Thanks for the contact, currently they are offering only two products for india.

1) Kissan torch - http://www.iffco.nic.in/iksl/ikslweb...torch?OpenPage - Available for 650/- + Courier charges (as applicable)

2) Mobile charger - Freeplay Energy
- Available for 500/- + courier Charges (as applicable) - 4 convert ports are available with charger i.e. Samsung, Lg, Nokia, Sony Ericsson (might be mixing names) so these phones can be charged, other phone converters need to be purchased from market.

Good part is these products are chargable, a mere rotary charging can give up good charge-up uptill 15-17 mins. Will try to visit the place on weekend, will update the testing report once seen.

Cheers

I have a EveryReady 100rs torch. The problem was, that in the car on bad roads, the 3 AAs would move and it will not work. Eventually, I taped up the cells inside.
However the light sucked.
Then at the local Noida flea market I saw one for 220rs. It was rechargable torch with some 30-40LEDs in main bulb, and it had a sivel arm with 24 LEDs which made it sort of tabel lamp.
It was claimed that you could run 250 hours with single charge.
I decided to try out at Ladakh. Charged it before going there. It was still running bright after over 50 hours of usage!
The main beam is well focussed and the 30+ LEDs give an awesome show. Light has slight bluish tint.
When I do not need the range, I bring up the siwel arm, and it gives me 5-10 feet of good spread table lamp tube kind of light.
Will post some pics later

Fantastic. Guys who do own professional torches, we would appreciate if you post pictures of the throw, spread, focus etc.
