Yeah That's why I said that smart-phone & iPad should be good for non regular readers like. I don't know how much of a reader your wife is hence the suggestion :) |
No, she is avid book reader too. So, it has to be real eBook reader.

May be you can try the Sony EBook reader this time, which too uses the eInk technology. |
I can have multiple Kindles registered to the same account, so we can both read the books we purchase via
Amazon. Sharing books become very easy if you stay within eBook family.
It is just like joining a dSLR family. If you have two Canons or two Nikons, they can share lenses, or books in this case.
Any reviews on the Nook colour?

Overall I hear good things, but nowhere near Kindle if reading the is primary motive.
Thats because its backlit. So even battery runs out faster.
If you need anything backlit and colour, today its only the Ipad.

Since you also drive a lot of long distance, I would suggest to start listening to audio books. Especially when on solo drives you can also finish books while driving!
Amazon.com continues amaze me. I had ordered a Kindle for my wife on Sept 21st afternoon. It was delivered today afternoon!
It just took 5 days and 1.5 hours from order placement and arrival. This was using the cheapest shipping option available.

This is great service. What was cost to you in INR (inclusive of shipping/customs) ?
Here is the breakup, the INR cost was about 12.5K

Of course, there is. Don't you see $56.36 import fee in the invoice?
For a moment my heart stopped, did I buy the Kindle few days too early? But when I read playing video, I relaxed. This is no e-ink based reader.
Amazon.com never fails when it comes to technology, I think Apple iPad may have a tough contender if Amazon jumps into the fray at that price point.
BTW, let's continue to the Amazon tablet discussion here:

Oh yes, e-ink based reader will continue for the strictly reading man.
This is the tablet they are working on for quite some.
Sorry I did not realize about the tablet thread. Will continue there.
Damn! Damn! Damn! They dropped the price by $40 for US customers, the price remains the same for International customers.
The touch version is only for US customers for now.
Anyway, all it can do is read books. So, I am still ok with my recent purchase.
