Hi Ampere,
Is 4.2.2 available for Atrix 2 officially ? I have been using the phone for the last few months, and really love the build quality, look and feel. Recently added a 16gb SD HC I card from Sony and the phone has been slightly sluggish, but not really a cause for worry.

4.2.2 ? I am on 4.0.4! :)

I am on stock. Battery life was good till GPRS/EDGE 1.5 to 2 days easily. The instant I put 3G it came to half. I primarily use it for office mail and gmail and occasional photo graphs. Rest of net access by apps on a need basis (like maps FB G+ etc). But I got the battery life back on track by basically toggling 3G on and off on a periodic basis.

Have some questions to ask about the phone before I take the plunge.

Its strange that there are NO reviews on any sites like phonearena, GSMarena etc.

I have, but it hasn't been delivered yet! What do you want to know?

This is the only somewhat comprehensive review out yet...

FWIW, I have seen tons of commuters in Malaysia use their RapidKL cards (like metro cards in delhi) in their phone flip cases. Nothing happens. Surprised reading some of the comments here - interesting! Does anyone keep their metro cards in their flip cases here too?

I have a HTC Desire X. The Exchange Email App seems to show only recent mails - is there a setting which makes it show all emails which have been downloaded till now - the mail has already been downloaded and read - there is no reason for the app to discard it.

I know about the setting which lets you decide how many days of mail to download (3 days default) - but I am not referring to that.

Yes but metro cards generally are passive inductive cards just like sPen,
even magnetic strip cards like ATM cards have very very feeble magnet may be of order of micro tesla so won't affect if kept in flip case.

Check the Amazon link I posted for magnetic case, it had 3 magnets of the length of phone and strong enough to hold weight of Note 2 on vertical surface like a refrigerator door. Quite usefull to mount phone on surface so I purchased it online but later noticed that hand writing goes haywire with the case on.

Expense account for devices :) One of the (few :( ) perks of programmers.

Good but any particular reason that you need AOSP image on your devices ?
Your app should work with Samsung images as well.

Contrary to popular perception OEM programmers also write good code and many times google pull in the changes in mainline at later date.
Its another story that Instead of perks programmers working for oem carry burden of carrying cross of secreacy only perk is that they get to play with devices from prototype stage before release :-)

Are the mails disappearing from the phone once you open them in Outlook in your computer?

To get the SIM replaced, just walk in to any airtel stores and say you want to swap in for the micro sim. Its just a 5 mins job and the new SIM will be active within a couple of hours max. I had to give them ID proof also to get it done.

This turned out to be a big pointless drama.

Hi guys, does anyone have a list of Android tablets (7" or 10") available in India that support USB host mode? (preferably without needing to root the tablet).

Battery Life.
How the white version looks.
Is the rubberised coating on the back a dirt / stain magnet, specially for white.

- No clue about the battery life as I have only used a demo piece.

- White was my original choice, but having seen both in person, black looks much better IMO.

- White + Matte wil always attract dirt.

I like AOSP + Samsung hardware. Hate that Nexus phones waste few MMs of screen for Home button etc. I like the fact that Samsung keeps buttons saperate from screen.

I am sure they do, just that it is too much. Collegue got brand new S4, and that phone showed RAM usage at around 1.2 GB.

When I was using TouchWiz on S3, opening Real Racing 3 used to swap whole UI out of memory and it took 3 - 4 seconds for icons to show up on pressing home button.

Yaa I can imagine it would be crazy... constant updates from Google (and maybe hundreds of images due to Operators/ Chipsets/ Device varients).

No.

It shows last 3 days of mail at anytime.
For eg. Right now it shows me all mail from Tuesday on till today. But tomorrow, it will show me mails from Wednesday on - the tuesday mails won't be shown.

There are adapters available that enable you to use a MicroSIM in a slot for MiniSIM(the regular SIM size).

No issues with battery. I haven't loaded the phone with apps. Just FB, Yahoomail, Skype . Offtopic - Shifted to Android after using Sony Ericsson k810i for over 4.5 year's. What an incredible phone it is. Still have the phone with me. Amazing build quality. Didn't change the battery even once. No scratches on the screen :)

So there still are other Atrix 2 users..! I thought I was alone. lol:

Like you and ampere have mentioned, I have found no reason to change. My phones running the official JB 4.1.2 leak and I have had no problems at all. My battery on full time 3G lasts about 13 hours.

If you've not yet put JB, do so right away. It makes the phone a lot faster.
