I used to be a big baiter of my mi4 phone. I was not at all liking the miui interface and the phone was getting heated up like anything. Three things completely changed my opinion of the phone.
Installation of Nova launcher. The interface is close to plain android or even better.
OTA update MIUI 6.7.1.0 KXDMICH. I don't know what magic they did. Heating reduced significantly. The battery time increased almost 100%. It stays on for almost 2 days now with full wifi/3G, 3 hours Screen time and 1 hour voice calls.
Xiaomi Service. You can find a service center in every nook and corner of the city (Bangalore). Got a yellow patch on the screen and got it replaced under warranty in 7 days, no questions asked.

No other phone I used has come close to this one on the performance front.

even i was facing this issue with my Redmi2 device...the solution for this is, ask that person to turn off location setting or set it to 'device only' mode...it seems like there is a bug in this OS, even if data is turned off, location service accesses the data connection if it is set to turned on and set to high accuracy.

you may want to post this solution to that person.

Regards,
Srini.

Thank you Srini. However, the solution did not work. I need GPS on for few of my apps to work when i fire them. I don't want to manually turn on and off each time. Putting GPS on least accuracy mode and restricted only to device also doesn't help.

Moto G3 for software optimisation than Mi4i. Better servicability and resale too.

Thanks for the suggestion guys. Ordered a Mi4i for ₹8500 from Amazon after cash back and Moto G3 from flipkart for ₹10000 after exchange of a old Xolo Q800 and discount of 10% from Citibank.

One of the mobile will be used by me and the other by my friend.

Thanks Again.

Did you try to unbrick the phone?

Many how to unbrick guides are available on MIUI and XDA forums. Do give it a try, if you haven't

Thanks, I did manage to get it working after trying a number of things. But, my point was that MIUI is not a great ROM and is highly unreliable.

I have even managed to brick a nexus. You can't blame it on MIUI.

Oneplus One 64 GB no longer available at Amazon. Yesterday it was going for Rs.16,549 (including the Rs.1500 discount on HDFC cards). Missed the bus I guess.

Looking at other options now. How is the Moto X Play in comparison to the OPO?

Ordered the Moto X play from Flipkart yesterday. Costed me 13K net after exchanging my old Galaxy S2 for Rs. 2500 and 10% cashback on Yes bank debit card. I think the phone has got excellent specs for its price.

guys got myself the recently launched meizu m2 for 6499 from snapdeal. really very happy with this purchase. bought the redmi 2 prime 4g at similar price a week back will compare the two tomorrow.

It is possible that some app might exist in the Google appstore which will record a message & play it out and possibly record the incoming voice message of the caller as well. The Xperia Z3/Compact I know as a matter of fact, has that feature as built-in Sony software. Quite useful at times.

finished the speedtest, multitasking as well as the benchmarking test between meizu m2 and xiaomi redmi 2 prime 4g here are the results

Hey guys,
I am looking for an excellent camera phone with a budget of 30 to 35k. I want good battery life and DUAL SIM functionality. I am looking at either the Oneplus 2 or the LG G4. Does the G4 have significantly better camera? Is there anything else I should consider?

Finally Black Berry meets Android and every one eats marshmallows happily ever after

LG G4 has one of the best cameras currently. Check out the net for more. No idea on 1+2 as I did not use it.

Just started using SwiftKey Neutral Keyboard. Sadly, there is no SwiftKey Cloud option (Missing my old SwiftKey predictions)
