Hope this helps. |
Thank you lancruiser123.
Since I was not happy with the look, feel and OS, my phone is sold.
Cheers
My Redmi Note 3 has simply refused to enable 3G data for the last full day. I tried cache cleaning and installing an update. Nothing worked. Did it happen to anyone else? Any workarounds?
^^
You can manually select your 3G network in 'choose networks' option which is below 'preferred network type.'
Sorry, can't send a screenshot now as my phone (mi4i) runs Mokee which is based on CM 12.1.

Maybe a little too quick civic-sense, but, back to iPhone 7 it is.
Cheers

I had this issue in my colleague's Redmi Note 3. I enabled data roaming (even though he was in home circle), then reset the APN to default.
After this I restarted the phone and it worked.
You do much higher level stuff than this but just suggesting :)

Yes, it does that - but it cannot "start" up data for some reason. The E/H/H+/4G icon comes, it seems to try to transmit data and then the data icon disappears. Irrespective of 2/3/4G. Set the network to 2G only / WCDMA only / 4G only and same result. Swapped SIMs two ways (data activated on 2nd sim, then sim slots swapped), then put in a 3rd fresh SIM - nothing doing. Guess I need to backup my phone and do a hard reset only. or a visit to the dreaded Xiaomi centers.

Yep - did that - no impact. zilch !
No significant discussion of such a problem on the miui forums as well :(

Maybe create a new apn manually and then try using that. APN settings should be available online
Moto G series has good discounts on Amazon if combined with HDFC cards.
Upgraded my one plus x to Marshmallow yesterday and I must say it was a painful process! After the update the Google play services and Play store stopped working. Tried all options and even cleared the cache. In the end had to do a factory reset and reinstall everything. Now phone is fine and working Properly. Others please be aware that you may need to do the reset to get ypur phone working properly.

Updated.. Absolutely no problems.
They have made the up-down scroll as default. I always hated that.. even in my MotoX2. Oh well..
Gallery is a nice inclusion. Music's quite boring, no EQ.
The MIUI on my Redmi 3S Prime got updated to v8.0 yesterday. It was a <300 MB update. Some neat tweaks here and there visible (for instance, the pixelated photo of the caller doesn't fill up the entire display anymore, just a small icon), the drop-down notifications can now be toggled to a combined display or separate one (like the Samsung devices).
Another feature of this device I love (not relevant to the update) - when you dial someone, it vibrates like the haptic feedback when the person picks up the call so you don't have to stare at the display all the time or keep the device near the ear after dialing. :p
Plus, all the notification SMSs sent (e.g. from Zomato, ICICI Bank, foodpanda, snapdeal, etc) is clubbed under one common message - Notifications. Doesn't fill up the inbox.

Some other additions in MIUI 8 includes cloned apps functionality in which we can run two whatsapp accounts or two fb accounts etc. in one single device.
Dual accounts or "Second space" is another addition. Just like how we can have two accounts in windows. Helpful if you have kids around who use your phone to play games.
Another feature I like is the new scroll down button while taking screenshots. Helpful in covering a larger area in a single screenshot.
Though the scrolling screenshot feauture doesn't support many apps as of today. Hopefully, it will get better with time.

My X-Play does that too.. Marshamallow 6.0. But it is in the options, and it was not turned on by default. Found it and like it :)

No experience with phones other than Moto. In moto, this is a sign of something wrong with the modem partition. Flashing just the modem would fix it. Your mileage may vary.
