Its not just 800MHz vs 1GHz Hitanshu. the 1GHz galaxy S has a different arcitechture(processor) and can run Flash.
but then how does one interpret the other benchmarks? The defy is rather ahead of it!

When I bought my LG Optimus P500, I didn't think too much about the flash capability, but once in a while I seriously regret not paying attention to it. There are a lot of flash videos around and sometimes it feels dumb to have an handset not capable of playing them. Only relief is the youtube app as of now.
If you can afford, please go for a processor that supports flash.
do not read too much into benchmarks. The Defy has a better GPU it seems. But as most members mentioned, the S-LCD Galaxy I9003 can run most current games without issue.
With a better GPU 3-D benchmarks will definitely be better. But its not a game phone. Overall you will get good performance for your day to day needs.
Regarding the defy, its good, but I am not sure if the CPU has flash support. They say flash lite, which is not really flash.
I9003 would have been the best phone out there for its price if not for that missing flash for the camera. Dont know why Samsung decided to give it a miss! Its not there in Galaxy S as well!

I thought the two had exactly the same specs, except for the GPS and 3G.
And last I checked, there seems to be an change in prices for SL, flipkart is seeling it for 19.9K and mobile store for 20.4K. Not that I am complaining. :D

Couldnt agree more. I personally ditched the phone for the same reason. No flash = complete deal breaker - especially because I click most photos when I am not working (i.e. in the evenings).
EDIT: The Desire S launched in India today as well (25.5k INR)

I agree. In low light the camera is worthless, but so are other digi cams. However if the light is appropriate, it can actually surprise you.

Actually, most phones with a flash are very usable in the dark. The Galaxy has a decent daylight-camera though.

Have you tried using the skyfire browser ? This browser supports flash and i could actually stream the world cup matches live on my galaxy ace using this browser. I actually don't miss flash at all.

Thanks Tarun. I never tried it before, I was using dolphin and was quite happy with it otherwise.
Any review or update on the Nexus S coming in India? I am seeing it being priced around 27k at various e-retailers. Has anyone used it so far, seems to be a good option.

Massively overpriced!!!
Its basically same thing as I9003 which can be bought for 19.5-20k types. It has the S-LCD (and not the SAMOLED screen). Not worth it!
For the same price SE Arc or HTC Inc S are way better.
