Cache cleared. Phone is not on airplane mode. Data is working fine. Phone restarted multiple times today.

Can't see "Phone" listed as an app in my app list inside settings.

Can you install the Phone app (Google Phone app) from the Play store? Might help to use a different phone app. Check your default phone app in settings.

(You may need to check the all apps or system apps option in settings to see the Phone app - if you did not get to the phone app which cache did you clear? Is your phone rooted?).

Tried google phone app. no luck.

My default phone app is listed as contacts and i can only force stop it. Am just backing up data for the inevitable factory reset.

Internet calling is somehow on? Try toggling.

I pre-ordered the Edge 20 in emerald green today as the silver one was not available. I hate that color, so am in half a mind to cancel. Since it is a pre-order it is supposed to ship only on Sept 9, but going by my experience with the MI 11 lite pre-order, it might ship sooner. The MI shipped the very next day.

These sale events are just gimmicks urging you to pull the trigger when you are not sure whether you want to. :Frustrati

Yes, these are gimmicks, you are correct. Moto had to defer the launch of the Edge 20 for some reason but still wanted to be known as the first manufacturer to bring a phone with the Snapdragon 778G chipset, hence they changed the first sale to a Pre Order.

I decided to wait for the Silver colour, so gave this one a skip for now.

Not sure if my phone has that function. Have not seen it.

Anyway just did a factory reset, got a call (yay), started restoring apps from play store and after some time tried making a call again and it's back to square one :Frustrati

Can a rogue app be the culprit? Did not even go into settings other than to change display settings to dark mode.

Hmm. Try removing calling apps like viber, WhatsApp, etc. At least now you know its a software issue, so it's just trial and error to find the offending app or setting.

Wonder if some setting got restored. If you reset again, try not restoring everything automatically from Google.

Yeah, somewhere something is screwing things up. Google restore is only for contacts. Play store apps shall download them one by one and see.

Whatsapp shall install last. Not using any other caller apps.

The S9+ is still 33% faster. Plus it's a flagship.
My suggestion would be keep the S9+ and replace the screen and battery at the same time. YMMV.

I am not sure if it is worth changing the screen in 2021 though. :)

Thank You guys, I too, have the same opinion whether is it worth spending that amount on an Android flagship which already has had 2 newer generations released (S10 & S20). How much longer would it be supported by Samsung with OS & Security Updates after spending a pretty hefty amount of display replacement.
Another point my father made is that in 2 years, there are many features which trickle down from the flagship models to the mid-rangers in addition to the bump in internal storage size.

Did a factory reset once again, calls were working fine after restarting, went to play store only to update pre installed apps and gone again

The existing S20FE came with Exynos processors. It was discontinued for some time and this 5G variant has been released now with Snapdragon processor.

Please share your experiences after using the phone for few days. I am looking to upgrade sometime next month and can't find anything more compelling:)

Ah ok. Was surprised when i saw that it had a SD processor as i remember Samsung India usually gets their exynos processors here.

Phone is good. Snappy and felt lighter compared to similar priced models. But getting a case was a pain. Ended up ordered for a Spigen tough hybrid case for 2,000 bucks.

You have to remember my previous phone was a LG V40 which i got in Feb 2019 which i guess is vintage in phone history :D
